    My Journey

So right Jerry. I always wonder why I went 24 years after my youth to return, and that was to help my grandmother celebrate her 100th B'Day in 1984. She lived to almost 101. Then another 22 years to 2006, when we took the train. We have been returning every 2 years and I finding that is just...

    My Journey

I agree on Livingston and Bozeman. The one thing that draws me back to Livingston is the old Northern Pacific railroad station. The architecture is beautiful. This is where my Grandmother and I would board the Northern Pacific Limited for Chicago. The first time my cousins took me to the train I...

    My Journey

A little grain elevator action and views of the Crazy's. The Northern Pacific would make a mail stop and right near the elevators I would get off to a crowd of my cousins.

The fair brings be back memories of going to the Big Timber 4H Fair in the late 1959-61. I returned 50 years later and sitting with my cousins watched these kids with their champion steers, huge smiles. Some had double sales. Someone paid top dollar and them a restaurant purchased again, and the...

That is amazing. Such hidden beauty, but there to be found and admired.

Snow Caves. Wow! Absolutely amazing stuff. I remember reading about ice Caves along the Michigan shore line (I think). In Montana, that is really neat, mid-July and full of ice and snow.

If you do go South on 191, before you get to Big Timber, maybe 3-4 miles the town of Melville, go right (West) for a couple of miles to an iconic church, Melville Lutheran Church. My great grandfather helped build the church. Beautiful photo OP with the Crazy Mountains for a back drop.

    My Journey

So when I see Hwy. 191 show up, I'm thinking I would have Big Timber on my mind and like a magnet, I would be drawn to my family heritage. How I wish I was there. That visit will have to wait until 2021. Doing a little research on the Huterite Colonies, saw that 75% of the sect live in Canada.

Awesome stuff. I never knew these colonies existed in Montana.

    My Journey

Great photos Jerry. I to have felt a need to scheduled 3-4 days in places, hopefully with few people. Outside of RMNP or our back-up plan we will be spending the rest of the time, besides Telluride, in the back country. Hope to fish and hike. Be safe. Another place that Foy put me onto was the...

    My Journey

The place is Vipond Park in the Pioneer Mountains. You can get up there off 43 and I-15 to Dewey. Sleep amongst the lodgepole pines, beautiful wild flowers. Numerous mines to explore, in fact you will pass a big one on the way up. Foy also posted previously with more details. Google Vipond Park?

Your post on people pouring into Montana and purchasing cabins over market price. Well today, a state that has laid low as far as Covid-19, Montana has now made the National spotlight with a spike in Covid-19. Guess we will have to see if it is due to the influx. Be safe.

Glad you are back home. Pictures are amazing as usual. Don't think you can go wrong in Montana. Just got caught up as we spent a couple weeks travel the Natchez Trace Parkway from Nashville to Natchez. Stopped at the cabin and burial place for Merriwether Lewis. Hopefully the cabin will happen...

Great photos. The snow looks great. Normally I wouldn't want to see it, but it brings you cooler temps. Montana at last?

Always enjoyed Kipling. Great photos. The gate reminded me of the same thing happening all around the Crazy Mountains. NFS roads are being gated by ranchers and they are putting log books at the gates which they will use in court. NFS rangers telling there people to not sign them, and then...
