well, transmission should be on the plane tomorrow, along with a bell housing to bolt my 4d56 up to my swb first gen v6 manual :)
I'll be pulling the engine back out soon This will give me a chance to raise my drivers side engine mount up a quarter inch or so. That will give me the clearance I...
sure thats not for a 4d56? I was under the impression that the 4d56 4 cylinder and v6 mounts are in the same spot on the frame, while the 4m40 were forward, and of course body lift etc..?
sMy only guess id the mounts are farther forward on a second gen if thats the case? Although the 4d56 swb...
Interesting, offset mounts? I know when I swapped in a 4m40 to my first gen, there was no way to use the original mounts at al;l as the enigne needed to be moved about 4 inches forward and the old mounts were hitting the downpipe stud. Guessing it's different on a second gen?
as for the...
Thanks, nothing getting done right now as im off traveling for work. I managed to source a manual transmission from the uk along with some other parts though. I may have time in feb to start playing with it again
I havent bought a trans yet, I can run the r150f or a ax15. I just have to I believe change the input shaft off the ax 15 to the toyota shaft. easy swap. I'll probably go for the jeep trans as I like the rubicon option for down the road. I think the toyota has a 2.68, not sure what the ax15 has
hows your track width compared to the rear sr axle?
One more question, is this axle as strong or stronger than that sr front axle you were kicking around in making back in the day on wire?
and final question, how did you like the rubicon transfer case. I'm debating if I will run it on my ax15...
I've been playing around with monteros for awhile now. I decided I wantred to do a 4 door for a camping, offroad/overland rig as my swb is a bit small. I've always liked the first gen look the best, so I started shopping around for a clean one. I ended up finding just what I wanted. decently low...
I plan on using a tab a 10.1 for mapping. Can anyone recommend a decent car mount? I'll most likely need to drill into the top of the dash of my old montero. No cup holders, suction is a option, but im not sure how well they will hold up. I do quite a bit of 4 wheeling so everything gets shaken...
I'll update to what I have found, with some programming the speeduino DX GEARs should be able to control it, also the megashift, but both would require a bit of setup. I'm going to see if I can get a montero sport ecu to control it as I found a good wiring diagram
I'm trying to find a aftermarket stand alone trans controller that I can use with the v4a51. Is there anything out there? This is my last ditch effort to try and run the 4m40 with this trans.
Bill hincher makes them. They are for wideblock 4 cylinder mitsubishi. I'm pretty sure I can use the ax15 as well if I change it to a toyota r150 input shaft. Down the road I may do this with the rubicon or241 4:1 transfercase
i have 1 behind a 6 botl 4g64 wideblock, then the second is going...
I might try and just order the 5.29 I'm assuming it's the only gear ratio available and it is for the 8 and 9" diff? Been searching around and it seems the rear gears might not be available anymore.Found the fronts in a korean parts store.
I'd rather jot toss in the whole super select difficulty if I don't have to. As far as I know there were no usm mo terms with 4.875 gears, so looking in a jyard would be pointless.
I ran across a thread of people saying they were buying Hyundai gears for around 700. Does anyone have a link or...
