Hard to put a value on it without seeing it in person and how much work it needs or not. In my mind the expensive stuff are the things I cant do my self. Parts are easy to buy and replace. Welding in new floors etc would make it cost prohibitive for me.
AT has an interesting concept. Anyone try this?

I would like to use welded on drop down jacks that also provide lift, like these:

Starting to gather information power system related. Leaning toward a Sears Group 31 AGM battery, man those are heavy!

100 amps should take care of most of our needs for 3 days max. I will watch to see...
I would not attempt to build an offroad trailer with that welder. But then again, my wife would not allow me to build an offroad trailer with any welder ....
For the cost of the metal and supplies involved, consider buying a good used M416 or similar and build from there.
As you may know from my other thread asking for recommendations, I have decided to have a teardrop built for me rather than buy something already available. The 3 main reasons are:
1. Customization. I can design and have built exactly what I want with a local builder. While the other builder...
I have looked at an RTT several times and backed away for many of the reasons posted in this thread and one not here- wind. Alot of our trips are into the Mojave Desert where the wind can vary from mild to a steady gale but is usually blowing . I cannot imagine spending a night in one most...
I have made a few decisions in the last 24 hours. I am definitely going to have one built by a local builder but purchase the frame from AT in Prescott. Here is my thought process:
-Frame. I want a tried and true design/ build. It will cost me little more initially, but I think it is worth...
Excellent points, thanks. I plan to put a small rack and box on the front as well, some back end weight will be needed to counterbalance an already front heavy design.
^We really do lose sight of how good we have it out here. I visited SC Teardrops last week to check out their very cool shop and trailers. Mario and AT are just a 6 hour drive for us in LA as well, almost locals.
I am leaning pretty hard toward having the frame built by AT or SCT, and then...
Just got off the phone with Mario, considering going this way to start with. It's going to be a bit more than the price above but may be worth it in the end.
You guys are really making my head spin now. I showed my wife all the "dont get a sink" comments ... good work guys, you convinced her. Now I have to wrap my head around the "no stove" concept. First post updated again.
NetDep, what kind of heater do you have? Happen to have a picture?
