    FIRST TIME OUT E450 Ambulance

First shakedown trip to Moab for the Toyota event was a success, pulled an enclosed trailer with my RZR inside. Couldn't even feel (or see) it back there. Averaged almost 13 MPG, installing that old Winnebago front wedge paid off! No issues with the 3 fuel tank switching, All systems operational...

Tool Boxes and Flatbed Mounting Thoughts

Side boxes mounted to camper This was my camper for many years, since sold to a member in Georgia. He's putting it on a Fuso. My boxes were cut up & mounted to 2 1/2 4x8 plywood sheets screwed into the bottom of the Bigfoot. Huge amount of storage. Drop the whole thing on a flatbed. I did frame...

    FIRST TIME OUT E450 Ambulance

A good week! Made good progress this week. Propane & water lines almost complete. FRP came out as good as I'd hoped on inside. Need a flex hose then toilet will go in, the the Irvine Shade acordian door after that. Got the Hella's in the bumper. Including a shot of original interior, for...

    FIRST TIME OUT E450 Ambulance

Actually the truck camper wet bath fits over to the left side. Left plenty of room for the doors to get a kayak in. That's a 50ish gal diesel tank, with repurposed cabinets above blocking the doors. My Hobie Mirage tandem is too long to go inside anyway. I like the flexibility of large fuel...

Anyone actually install mini split heat pump on camper?

I'll be using a Duotherm Cool Cat heat pump/AC in my ambulance. It's about the size of a small AC unit, but no real shell. It will go in one of the compartments, keeping the "white box" off the roof. It came out of a pop up trailer for that same reason. The Mfr. didn't want the weight on the...

    Chinook'd

I've got a fixed hitop chinook on an '85 SR5 straight axle 4x4 longbed, that has been on the backburner for a long time(see my other post for the Quigley ambulance) I'd consider selling if any interest. 153K miles, 5 spd,AC, power steering, normal Toyota tick, but runs great. 1 leaf added in...

    FIRST TIME OUT E450 Ambulance

A Year later, build coming along I spent at least 6 months in the planning stage. I didn't want the typical conversion. I cant quite understand how some throw an ARB & a portapotty on the floor & call it 'fully converted'. I have owned several class B's that I considered converting to 4X4, but...

Nice Ambulance Conversion but too pricey for me

Wow-A hundred G's...I bought my E450 a year ago & didn't start on it until fall. A lot of time sitting in it & visualizing. I would have torn it apart several times had i started right away. This post has me motivated to take & actually post some pictures of my (REALLY an RV) conversion. STAY...

4x4 fully converted ambulance, asking $45,000

Scariest part of that post, other than calling it fully converted, was "fully rewired by electrical engineer" I once owned a rig built by one. When I picked it up HE couldn't even tell me how stuff worked...5 way auto switching smeezer valves & the like! LOL

    SOLD !!! Bigfoot 3000 10.11 for flatbed $8K obo

Looks like it's heading to Craigs & the bay...Just went thru it , checked systems. replaced furnace fan shutoff timer, while replacing toilet floor flange, decide to install the new hi profile toilet I had planned to use in the ambulance. SOLD !!! Bigfoot 3000 10.11 for flatbed $8K obo

As work on the ambulance is getting close enough to use this spring, it's time for my beloved Bigfoot to find new adventures with a new owner. it is a big heavy camper set up to be carried on a flatbed truck, with aluminum sideboxes mounted & closed in. i carried it on 1 ton cab/chassis/sleeper...

2300 miles 2 1/2 days. Made a 180 mile detour to pick up some '54 Chevy parts for a friend. 2500ish lbs of engines, transmissions & assorted crap. barely squatted the truck. 10-14mpg depending on headwind. Set cruise @ 65mph. uphill, downhill 65, only downshifted once crossing Smokey Mtns...No...

    FIRST TIME OUT E450 Ambulance

Posting for 1st time here. Just picked up a '97 E450 diesel Quigley ambulance back east & drove it home to Utah. First time out in the sand. Did GREAT. I've looked at the ambulance threads & decided I'll do one. Got very lucky with this one, only 105K miles. Just designing the RV conversion in...
