Garmin has a new GPS coming out called the Montana that looks like it could work well for Overlanders. It has comparable features to the popular GPSMAP 276C and also incorporates the newest GPS features and is a handheld unit with a wired dock for you vehicle.
It looks very promising as a...
Have you asked the sellers why the transmission was replaced? It is possible that they got the dreaded strawberry milkshake - that is when the transmission cooler hose inside the radiator breaks and contaminates the transmission with antifreeze. Most transmissions that suffer this need to be...
Gregg, I use a Garmin GPSMAP 276c. In most cases you do not download "MAPs" from Funtreks (as far as i know) or other books websites, you download routes, tracks or waypoints (routes and tracks contain a collection of waypoints). The maps usually come from the GPS vendor (in my case GARMIN)...
Do you have any pictures from the front of your 4Runner you could share? I've been thinking about getting this size tire for my 99 4Runner but think they might be too thin - a picture would help in my decision.

According to the specs on Garmins web page the GPSMAP 640 does not save tracks, I would think that most of us Expo types would want a gps that DOES save tracks to review later.
Thats a nice rig you got there. I think the hand throttle is for either a PTO drive or hydraulic drive, and also sometimes used when using an electric winch.
That Rayovac and Nichia lantern look almost identical except for the remote on the Nichia. I have a couple of the Rayovacs and they work great. Might pickup one of the Nichias with remote for inside the tent.
I am also using the hard PVC hose with pushlock fittings. I bought the fittings from McMaster Carr. I set this up in my 85 4runner in 2001 and the hose is still fine and I have not had any leaks.
