mrwizard, we passed just north of you and fell absolutely in love with Idaho. Oh man, crossing the Sawtooths and fording the Middle Boise due to a closed bridge were unforgettable!
Day 2 continued
The kids were doing great. Sure we stopped a lot for bathroom breaks and diaper changes. We also made it a point to stop wherever we could to swim or cool off in the shade.
I am shamelessly going to let the photos do most of the telling. When they don't explain enough I...

Many thanks to 6string at Central Overland for all his help in planning our route through Ozark NF. His suggestions were spot on and made for an unforgettable trip through the forest on trails that don't even exist on the gazetteers. It was awesome. This was a highlight of our trip...
Days 0-3
June 4th we loaded the truck, said goodbyes to our neighborhood friends (checked for stowaways) and left our home for two months.
Our goal for the day was to get to Memphis quickly.
We traveled mostly paved backroads. The landscape was beautiful but familiar.
Roadside lunch...
It seems fitting to me that, since I started my trip here, I should end it here as well. I've been around Expo for a few years, basically since I began looking for a family travel vehicle. Eight months ago I began planning a Trans United States offroad route similar to the TAT. That journey is...
Agreed. I'd like to know what the impetus is behind the laws. The law seems ignorant. Of course, I am from "Down South," so obviously, my judgement is skewed.
Enjoyed this thread but don't have anything to add at the moment. We have a 3 kids: 6, 4, 1 and are heading out for two months on the road this summer. Hopefully will have lots to contribute upon returning.
A tightrope made of webbing is called a slack-line. I'll set one up from time to time...
As far as I know it never came with them but I'm not sure how to tell. Can any of there bigger boxes be retrofitted with wheels and extending handle? The picture in the link shows rollers; that's why I put it in the description.
-Jesse
As title states, I have a good used genuine Pelican 1650 case with no rollers. It's been cared for and all is in good condition but it has a few dive stickers on it.
Interior Dimensions are roughly 29x18x10

My six year old son built the rig below. I came home from work and he showed it to me and I immediately thought to show him this thread. Can you tell he's excited about our backcountry trans-america trip?

Alright, I'm leaning towards the Engel 30 qt cooler. I can get one for $60 shipped so I'll use the savings for some ice along the way. Very curious to see how this cooler will do compared to the Coleman we used on the last trip. Latches and is airtight so no spillage at least. Thanks for the...
I have $100 to spend on a cooler/fridge for a 6 week trip this summer. I want an Engel fridge/freezer but even the Whynter Kmart versions are way out of my price range.
Given that I have a shallow pocket, which one would you do?
We will be traveling backroads from Tn. to Or. on something...
Interesting solution. I have been looking for the same sort of thing for my roof rack. I was going down the more expensive route of Cumaru or Ipe but the weight and cost are big issues for me. I bet that the Home D's don't stock that product on the East Coast. Red wood is mainly a West Coast...
If any of you actually get yours (I'm not hopeful I will get the one I ordered jumping in this late on the deal) and need to unload an extra, I'd be grateful. -Jesse
