Sliders (out of the list above)
For me the order is usually:
- Preparing to explore (preventative maintenance and enough cash to fuel the truck)
- If going to Baja, insert fridge here (old joke)
- Maximizing your contact while reducing environmental impact (the RIGHT tires for where you want...
Ok - we're down to the meat now!
If you were showing these pictures with an Eezi-Awn, Hannibal or other major brand, I would have little concern. They have either additional rails or an engineered bottom designed to flex properly. Personally, I don't have enough experience with Chinese tents...
Ok - we're getting down to the issue here :sombrero:
So you're concerned about putting weight where the arrows are and the rail circled pushing up/oil-canning the floor?
Thanks for the group buy and excellent service Wil.
For Canadians who are curious, the shipping was about 10 days via USPS/Canada Post with tracking.
Duty charge = zero
GST = $19.25
Customs handling fee = $8.50.
Total = $27.75
Packages of this value always get assessed additional fees at...
Couple of questions first:
1 - what are you mounting it to?
2 - type brand of tent?
3 - which way does it open - can't tell from your picture.
More pics will help. :)
Cheers,
Pete
Very old pics (like 7 years old), but the tracks are the same. Just have a third crossbar now. Used it with a basket from 2005 - 2008 and with a RTT since.
Oh, and I switched out the towers for the new Yakima style when they came up on Kijiji for cheap. These ones have a plastic base where...
Corey,
Curious if you have opened your search to Wouxun? They don't have a lot of extra features but the pricepoint (around $100) and performance make them very good value. Lots of positive reviews online (with a few negatives too).
No GPS though... just the basics. But you can get a...
That's not actually a true roof top tent is it? It looks like a tentcot sitting on top of the truck and they aren't designed for that type of application. You may be asking for trouble...
1 - First check the wind. If you spray into the wind, you might get the bear but you will also be on the ground deciding if being mauled by the bear was a better or worse fate. I have inhaled high quality bear spray. It's beyond awful.
2 - Spray a short shot first. If that doesn't cause the...
Range Rider canopy, three Yakima crossbars on a sliding track mount system, Eezi-Awn T-top 1600. No structural reinforcement.
Thousands of off-road miles, dozens of days with 500+ lbs of people/gear PLUS the tent (add more when the Eezi-Awn room is added).ZERO issues.
For years I have...
Question for you as well: can this system be used as part of a triple battery setup?
Here is what I am considering: I want to have starter battery, aux battery and charge-only (while driving) a marine deep cycle battery for use with a small trolling motor (getting lazy to row my pontoon...
Wil - I hate electrical work, but I need to do this. Please put me down for the kit and the RBS. Not sure if this will be a ship to Canada or to Montana yet.
Thanks. You make a good point about food inside the tent as well - I try to ensure that only water and medication is the only thing "edible" in the tent. That smell lingers and for ground tents can lead to a seriously annoying ant problem.

Do you ever carry things in your truck that wouldn't fit inside a shell? If no, I see zero reason not to have one. A protected cargo area is always better than an open one.
Let's start with a pic:
This was my camp last year at a lake in BC. You'll notice that we had a fire and cooked where we camped. In there area, there isn't space to do otherwise. We spent three nights at this camp knowing that on the other side of the lake, about 2 miles up, a very large...
Loved the video - excellent driving and traction aid placement through the tough stuff. You can tell that it wasn't just a "go for it" approach. The route was scouted and thought out.
