It may bear mentioning that i think running the catalytic converters is a good idea and i would like to have them if they're not prohibitively expensive, so that i'm not polluting more than necessary. I'd be hard-pressed to spend $3,000 on that, but the $600-800 somebody else mentioned may be in...
I appreciate all the responses... They don't lead me to a crystal clear conclusion but they are helpful. I may try to negotiate a price reduction of less than the high replacement quote but more than nothing.
Anybody know who is a real authority guru on the engine/computer systems on these rigs...
I'm looking at a used lr3 that appears to be in pretty good shape and well-maintained but the catalytic converters are about shot on it and one of the O2 sensors is not happy with the output. Is there any problem on these rigs with all their computers if I just delete the cats or just leave the...
I've visited overkill at their shop a few times (I live in the same town) and have been very impressed with the product. I think it's true to the name in that the durability of the frames is probably off the charts and a bit unnecessary but there it is right in the name.
They are a small crew...
Thanks for the info. I doubt I'd have any trouble with it but sounds like my wife might. I doubt she'd ever use it without me though.
Does that rear pop out section seem like it's durable and seals up reasonably well against rain and bugs?
What holds the bed platform up when it's deployed.
I just noticed that the 12' MDC camper has the same thing. Maybe it's an Australian thing.
Looks like a pretty good system. I'm wondering if there is any real-world experience that validates that or can point out problems/frustrations.
The opus hybrid camper has a somewhat unique pop out for the rear bed with hinged panels instead of a tent or slide out. Does anyone have experience with it and an opinion or review regarding that particular feature?
I've been planning and researching a custom trailer build for quite some time...
@Windows down what are your thoughts on the opus?
How is that rear bed pop out? Convenient, reliable /durable, seal out the bugs and weather pretty well?
Saw an opus 15 at a campground last week. I should have asked for a tour. Just watched the 14 minute video and saw how the rear bed enclosure opens up. I'm curious how well that works. Is it solid? Leaky /drafty? Pretty neat idea. Not unlike the apache pop up camper from the 70s.
Im hoping to...
I'm glad to hear that. I wish i knew how many of us there are. I just turned 40, i have a 1.5 and 6 year old and we have no interest in a conventional american camper but can't find anything that will work for us. I've been toying with the idea of building something and trying to start a company...
Looking for feedback from folks who have experience with different types of pop-tops. I think the 180 degree flip tops like the old wildernest & flip-pac and now the AT Habitat seem like they'd really be great since they are nearly as quick as the wedge or straight up pops but offer a lot more...
Wow, great spots and photography, i wish i had the uncensored version, i wanna know where you can find uncrowded dispersed camping with scenery like that!
Seems unusual that the Chinese company would actually bother to purchase an American company in order to produce the product, rather than just producing It Anyway under their own name.
