Astro Van Question: Over Active ABS

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know mine isn't the only one doing it. You never had any "runaway" problems then?

Astro Van Question: Over Active ABS

Hey I know there are a few astro van experts here so i thought i'd ask... I have an 03 AWD astro cargo van that i use for work. I drive it every day, all over town. It is ABS equipped and the ABS seems to be pretty aggressive. That is to say, it cuts in quite frequently. It seems to work well...

    Yeti and the Marshmallow

nice photoshop mrbeast. I like the bedliner look. Sure would make for less cringing and more smiling when flying down those dirt roads. Plus you can get it in colors, but with the white van the black probably looks the best anyway, and is likely the cheapest too.

    Yeti and the Marshmallow

It didn't even happen at all. It's still there, look. Joaquin, who i think nobody would disagree is indeed a wonderful contributor, offered some advice. Yeti read it all, THANKED Joaquin and then explained why those things were or were not what he needed. Nothing to be upset about. Anyway, it...

    Yeti and the Marshmallow

Whaaat? This is getting weird. Settle down folks. It is hard to understand "tone" on the internet, and i think humans are naturally defensive and inclined to take things the wrong way (myself included). It was stated that no offense was meant, people all have their ideas of what they want. No...

Was there ever an extended version of the astro van?

    Yeti and the Marshmallow

In my line of work (automotive interior reconditioning www.oregoncolorglo.com) we have a product that is designed specifically to remove silicone. It works very well. It is not available at retail though. I'd imagine you can probably find a similar product at an auto parts store though, maybe...

    Yeti and the Marshmallow

The "Slime" if i'm thinking of the same thing as you, is usually a silicone spray. It's used to make everything look shiny and new, and is often applied way, WAY too heavily. It'll go away after a little time.

    Syncro vs. 4x4 Ford?

That looks like a fun movie! I still have major second thoughts about selling my westy. I console myself with the thought that if i find i just can't live without a vanagon, then i'll find myself a tin-top syncro for not TOO much money, and make my own camper out of it. ..."if i find i just...

    Van front suspension thoughts

This looks like a terrible design! Did pathfinder do it this way all the way through 1991? Or did they revise this somewhere along the way?

    cowboy 4x4 ford van

So you're a fabricator by trade? This should be a great build to watch. I'm curious what specific things caused you to ditch the '85 and seek a newer rig. Would you mind explaining?

    Our "new" Tiger...

Nice. Those are bright. I installed a set in the custom bumper on my Westy because its tail lights are very dim also. We will be seen now. :-) I have an '03 Astro work van, i haven't noticed its headlights being particularly good. They're not bad, just average i guess. I wonder if somebody...

    3rd Gen (1975-1991) Econoline Changes

Thanks Derek. I corrected my post above yours. What i meant to say at the end was that some sellers are advertising 3-speed transmissions with overdrive. None of my research has turned up 3 speeds with overdrive. Does such a thing exist? If so, was it common in the vans? If not, i guess that's...

    3rd Gen (1975-1991) Econoline Changes

Actually, I think i was wrong about the 351 being mated to the AOD. Most of the mid-late 80s vans i've seen advertised, with the 351 or the 460 say that they have the C6 (if they say at all). Although some of them claim they have a 3-speed with overdrive. Which doesn't fit with any of the info...

    3rd Gen (1975-1991) Econoline Changes

Thanks for the added info. One of my major questions has been which transmissions came in what, and how those trannys perform. I found a lot on the http://www.ford-trucks.com forums using google search. I still don't have an exact chart of what vans have what trans. but this is a good...

    3rd Gen (1975-1991) Econoline Changes

Great info Alefcourt and KTM, thanks! OD is mandatory for me because it also helps noise and mileage. I have my eye on a nice looking '89 pathfinder EB. I've heard reports of better mileage, but people always seem to want to stretch their mpg reports. Hard to admit to yourself how bad it is...

    VW Transporter for the USA

When i was at the grand canyon last spring in my westy, we met a couple from europe who were touring around in their late model TDi Eurovan full-camper. I had some serious lust for that rig. It was badged "California Coach" on the back. Pretty sure it was FWD only though, not sure if they're...

    Syncro vs. 4x4 Ford?

I found the thread that i had started. It isn't exactly to your question, but similar. It was on the other board... http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5730&sid=c150e6d681fb9c211c16af411283e225

    Syncro vs. 4x4 Ford?

I think i started a thread about this somewhere as well. I have a 2WD vanagon right now, and am selling to get a 4WD Ford. There are a few reasons i've decided against a syncro, but i must admit, number 1 is the price. To get a Syncro to where i'd be happy with it, would take a lot of money...
