    New adventure Toy(ota) in AZ

That's considered an upgrade for the 2wd pick-up trucks, or specifically for the Van? Sounds interesting, I like tinkering, and trying different things for sure. I'm hoping these brakes will give me a cheap brake bias that the car really needs. The front brakes are WAY too grabby, panic stops...

    New adventure Toy(ota) in AZ

Cut two of the five brackets off the axle and reassembled the drum brake on one side, before I forget how it goes together. The drums are 10" ID x 2" wide shoes. They should work for a while, until I get too frustrated with working on drum brakes... -Jon

    New adventure Toy(ota) in AZ

I ran a rallycross last month, down in Tucson. Unfortunately, I was the only car in 2wd rally prep. I'm hoping to run Course Closing a couple of times this year, Gorman and Prescott, if the organizers let me. Maybe, better yet, Lead/Opening car. Only problem there is fitting in the car with...

    New adventure Toy(ota) in AZ

I'm reviving this old thread of mine, as a bit of rebuilding on the car is going to be going on. After our last trip up north, in April, the rear axle is giving up, old junk yard dog out of a Cressida wagon with unknown mileage. Did some looking at it over the weekend, while fixing other...

Celica trip to the Rim (take 2)

Thanks. I guess it's time for some serious maintenance on the car now. Small cars aren't really meant to take dirty road abuse. My junkyard axle is now howling at even 20 mph, use to be up around 50-60, the doors are getting increasingly harder to open, infact, last night, the driver's side...

ExPo Member Entry - 2012 NORRA 1000 Rally

Great pictures, very cool versions of old Class 6 type off road cars. Good luck and keep the shiney side up. -Jon

    Beetle Off Road camper build

Now that's funny.... It could come in handy with a long time spent out in the middle of no where.

    Beetle Off Road camper build

I've seen a few Beetle AWD builds in the past, one with a custom BUS box, the other used a Synchro BUS box. The first one was a rally car build, the other was for off-roading adventures. 10-12 years ago, I spent a lot of time in my Baja Bug, built for camping and running around the terrain AZ...

Celica trip to the Rim (take 2)

We stayed at Creekside Cabins, the cabins and nice restuarant in the upper corner of town. The pictures weren't ready yet, but now they are ready... :-) And finally driving south on Crown King Rd., melting in the heat...

Celica trip to the Rim (take 2)

Well, we had another great adventure this past weekend, 600 miles in the Expedition Celica, 250 plus of it on dirt roads. It was my birthday weekend, so my choice was to head north to hang out in Christopher Creek. The plan was formed last month, when we tried to go camping on the Rim, in...

    Fast and Light Expedition Impreza

Great build up so far, on a budget. I like the fact that you're willing to try and do something different, like weld up your own muffler, very cool. I've been involved with the California Rally Series for many years, started drewing in '00, started racing in '04, was the P-Stock/CRS-GT...

And now for something different...VW Golf Syncro on Ebay

I've seen a few AWD conversions on Colts/Mirages, not too bad, still a lot of fabrication though. All the ones I saw used the Eclipse/Talon drivetrain, and they were mostly built for racing. A Colt AWD wagon would be a fun car to use off road. -Jon

92 Subaru Loyale Wagon 4wd: Work in Progress

General Grabber AT2s, I have them on my Celica, love them, wearing well, good on and off road performance for the weight of my Expo car. -Jon

    Introducing Rockhopper

HIDs for headlights, when the factory doesn't do it, sucks. But, I use conversion kits to make cheap off road lights work a bit better. For under $60 these days, you can have a pair of 6" HID off road flood lights. They aren't as good as a purpose built version, due to bulb to lens to...

Celica trip to the Rim and back (was suppose to be a camping trip)

RWD only, and open diff for now too. But, if you aren't in a big hurry, an open diff can be compensated for with a little light brake pressure. -Jon

Celica trip to the Rim and back (was suppose to be a camping trip)

The quest to continually evolve the Celica's go anywhere, do whatever we want to do, I bought a trailer hitch mounted bike rack this weekend. I stumbled in on a killer deal, $25 at Goodwill. It'll be a great addition, and work great when we take a trip up north next month, so we can bring the...
