    Maggiolina vs Columbus Variant

thanks for the offer of checking yours out. I'm however on the east coast, PA. Not too many guys have these things out my way from what i gather. I did see that autohome has a few tents in NJ, so that might help me with shipping costs. I have to imagine these cost a pile to ship.

    Maggiolina vs Columbus Variant

I'm just about 6 foot tall. I was a little concerned that the lift mechanisms take up 2-3 inches on each end, that's fairly significant. So the fabric on the Columbus is not breathable, or just not as breathable? That's huge if it isn't. And the Columbus flaps more in the wind, also a...

    Maggiolina vs Columbus Variant

sweet set up HMR, and thanks for both of you for the suggestions. Are the Maggs as aerodynamic as the Columbus? I guess being able to sit up in the whole tent is nice. I like the idea of three doors though, especially the one on the back. It might make it easier to step up on my tailgate to...

    Maggiolina vs Columbus Variant

So I think I've narrowed down my RTT choices. It will be going on my 94 TLC. I've decided against any of the "soft" varieties (Eezi awn, Overland) etc. I don't like the added set up and take down time of these, or the fact that they seem about as aerodynamic as a brick. I do like the fact...

    heated blankets

cool idea, I found one site listing them as using 200 Watts per hour. Another site lists a double size at 100. Here's a 12 volt job that lists a 5 amp draw http://www.safehomeproducts.com/shp2/sc/shopexd.asp?id=1952 It's too late for me to figure out how much that would take out of your...

    Trans Vermont Expedition (Nov.1 - Nov.5, 2007)

ahh closed during those times, that's good to know. I would never go on them if they weren't open, no worries there. Doing that type of thing is the reason places like this aren't open anymore. Still, I would like to know where to get some info and plan a trip for next summer. If someone...

    Trans Vermont Expedition (Nov.1 - Nov.5, 2007)

    hand winches

I just ordered a 3 ton More Power Puller. I read a lot of good reviews and a bunch of guys on Mud recommend them. I like the tirfors, but not for the price. I will have to get an assortment of no stretch straps and some chains to make it effective.

    hand winches

expeditionswest, you use the black rat model correct? What size? I have an 80 series LC so I have to take the weight into consideration.

    hand winches

Does anyone out there use a hand winch? I am looking specifically at the More Power Puller. I have seen the Black Rat tirfor type, but it is very expensive imop for what it is. The power puller comes in 2 and 3 ton varieties. The only thing that concerns me is that the 3 ton model only comes...
