I've made a few updates in the past month. First I got a Front Runner Slimline II rack and 23Zero box:
Even though the interior space of the Armada rivals that of most large warehouses, it is nice to be able to put some stuff up top now...
My life has been crazy of late. First kid was born in June, started a new job, in the process of spinning up a side business. Just barely starting to come up for water and put focus back on getting the Armada where it needs to be.
Yeah, the SuperPro bushing are 10mm to big, so I'm at the same...
I hope this doesn't sound rude, but I am super happy to finally see some pictures and hear details about the Ironman lift giving people the same issues as my OME lift! :D Confirms my suspicions about the spring and shocks being virtually the same and giving the same amount of lift.
If the stars...
Life's been pretty hectic of late, so no joy on getting it into the shop to install the bushings. I did take some measurements, though. Contrary to what I was understanding from the Patrol guys, I actually think that the SPF4131K offset bushings go here:
Rather than the inside of the spring...
Not 100% sure. The Moog's are 3" shorter than the OME 2986's, but have about the same spring rate. And the front OME 2977's are the same length as the 2978's, but have 30lbs less of a spring rate. So think that you'd only sit maybe 1/2" to 3/4" lower on the front with the 2977's, but you'd be at...
Have you been yearning for the outdoors? Longing to get into the overlanding scene but been told that the only way you can do it is with a Toyota? Have you been shopping for a Toyota but concluded that taking out a second mortgage to buy a 30-year-old Land Cruiser with 300,000 on the clock just...
Yes, the centerline clearance is very impressive!
The rear camber has settled to about +1* after driving it a bit. Still not ideal, but to as bad as it was. There is enough tread on the ground that its not really affecting traction at all. Still, once I get those eccentric bushings in I think...
Have had a busy work/life schedule over the past few months but finally had some time yesterday to take the Armada out on a post lift shakedown cruise. Everything worked great, rode surprisingly well on the washboard roads. I really thought that after replacing the air shocks in the rear it...
I got the SuperPro offset bushing's last week, but had a "addition to the family" since then so haven't had a chance to install them. Hopefully in the next week or two. I'll post up what the results are.
Just road driving since I've installed the lift. A bit stiffer than stock, but by no means unbearable. I've always felt like the Armada had a really loose rear end, this definitely fixes that. I'll be interesting to see how it does on washboard roads. That'll be the real test.
Now that it's stopped raining, here are some post lift parking lot photo's:
Note the front is sitting higher than the rear, this is because I put on the medium rate springs in anticipation of putting a DASH Predator Bar and winch on this summer. That additional weight should weigh it down...
Skid Plates
I already have a post about this, but I figured I’d consolidate it here as well.
I purchased a set of DASH Offroad skid plates from Nisstec. These are for the Patrol, which means that it is just the three plate kit for the oil pan, transmission, and transfercase. It excludes the...
I’ve had a number of people reach out to me about Old Man Emu Patrol spring options, so I figured it was time to create a proper “build thread” for my Y62 Armada.
I’ll start with the lift install. This is not the easiest install in the world. As such, I did not take a ton of pictures because I...
