out with the old in with the new

So after humin and hawin for a long time I finally committed to doing it, I removed the original batteries and the mount ,, poor picture and started the install, I counted seven test fits prior to the final one, this is the third test fit, and used alot of bits and pieces, brackets...

out with the old in with the new

So after some winter trips I grudgingly removed most items inside except the fridge so that I could start work on the finishing of the interior, as you can maybe see velcro was used for the temporary cabinet install, so removing the bits is pretty easy. Found lots of sand and some spillt wine...

out with the old in with the new

Its been a while since any real visual progress has been made, but I have been busy, along with some winter trips, where we had to try out the new suspension on the truck, much nicer now, but to start things off a couple of a "rig in use" shots. this one at Harrison lake in January, -16...

    Silkaflex-221

I used Sika 252 to bond aluminum to fibreglass, its the recommended adhesive by Sika, the 221 can also be used for adhesion but is better suited for sealing, 252 has very strong holding properties to the point where the 252 will stay put and the product around it will be destroyed. Only cutting...

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

Hmmm, your right about allowing some movement with the increase in resistance, but not allowing enough movement can lead to stress points somewhere, be it the truck frame or camper frame, the point loads come from other factors and not from allowing too much frame flex, the frame failures...

Do you have a Mog and if you do can you compare the two for comfort, MPG speed etc? And lastly, motor size, I believe it would be 4.2 litre???

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

Ah, so that shows the side load preventer better, and with a rough calculation, shows about 1.5" of vertical travel available to the rear mounts from the spring compression, maybe less, and looking closer at those springs, I see two sets, an inner set and outer, cant tell how much travel is...

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

Those are some interesting pics, some comments about them; first pics show very little vertical movement available on the nearest springs, hard to say but I guesstimate not more than half an inch if that. The last pic, I would say is showing the end with the most vertical movement available...

    Water Storage Freezing Question

What I am doing is using two sources for water, one in the camper envelope, and one between frame rails, my thinking is for winter camping use, the internal tank is used, in the winter, typically water consumption is less than summer. In the summer fill up the outer tanks and no freezing...

C5500 TopKick 4x4 Crew Cab Build

Interesting use of materials, and a cool build, I looked at aerogels while researching for my build and all I found for R value was around R-10 per inch, which is darn good in itself, how did it bond to the panels? How did the cost of the aerogel work out compared to a foam product, seems like an...
