If it's as clean as those pictures make it look, I'd keep that sucker stock. They are getting rare. Just my $.02.

I've always thought that the Niva was sweet. A fair number of them made it into Canada from the mid '80's to about '98. Some of them should be hitting the 25 year mark so you can start importing them without problems.

Just buy a Lada Niva. Already looks like a Rabbit and Samurai's bastard child that they shipped of to Russia in disgust. Some even came with a 1.9L diesel.

My Dad is 6'4" and has driven a Samurai as a daily driver for 21 years. There is plenty of room.

I looked for one for a bit before I decided to go ahead an rebuild my Samurai. The after market is quite weak, but the people who run them are fanatical, so there is a lot of information out there. One of the big downsides, just like a Samurai, is that they are cancer magnets. I don't think I...

A good question. I don't know. :) One of these days I should load up for a trip and hit some scales. The 15 Gallon tank from PetroWorks is awesome. I love having 50% more range and not taking up much more space. It's great. I've never done the Wrangler setup, but I've ridden in several...

I get about 20mpg loaded down. The biggest suck is the rack, which is a giant sail. Without the rack I average about 24mpg.

The LockRight has served me well over the last 11 years. Doesn't really make it that hard to drive, you just have to get used to it. If I had the money I would put an ARB in the front at the very least but both diffs would be ideal. Definitely in the top three things I'm doing next behind body...

Sross, This is very close to what I've done. You can read about my Samurai here. (I'd copy and paste, but I'm on my phone so that's a pain.) I've also recently added a rack, which is a great addition. Here's a picture of it loaded up: For one or two people the Samurai is a great setup. You...

    Mahindra 4x4 pickup

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that ARB already offers a pretty full range of options for Mahindra stuff as they are all over in Australia.
