Past the point of no return...

Finally took the time to read through your build Tango, very nice work! I was looking at a similar set up when I had the Tundra, was planning on a hybrid 3-link/radius arm set up. I used to hate the radius arm front suspension on my '74 Bronco, but that was an entirely different beast. I've...

Tranny cooler for a 2006 Tacoma?

There's transmission cooler info in two of my build threads that may give you some ideas - http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/18722-Petersons-Ultimate-Adventure-Tundra/page14 http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/69539-03-Tacoma-Build/page6

Not that I'm aware of. A manual transmission is just a gear box, like a transfer case. The heat generated in an automatic transmission is mostly due to the torque convertor, which a manual transmission does not have.

Ha, thanks Jim. Next time you happen to be in Hendersonville, swing on by and we'll get to building you one....I'm pretty sure I'll have enough material left over ;).

Why does "size matter" in N.America???

I believe that one of the biggest problems with the world today is people not knowing how to mind their own business....if somebody wants to drive an aircraft carrier to work, who am I to judge. If it doesn't fit into "your" agenda, then it's time to form a group to ban whatever that may be...

Got the lift on, ended up having to go back in and move the clips on the 5100's to the middle setting to get it closer to level, since I'm running the 1" Toytec shackles in the back. I like the way it's sitting now. And all the BS all over the internet about "never raise the clips past the...

    '03 Tacoma Build

Got some more parts to install, putting the OME 881's and Wheeler's 3-pack AAL on tonight, then jumping back onto the bumper build tomorrow. Planning on dropping the 5100 clips to the lowest (stock) setting and going to leave the factory overload leaves out, since I'm also running Toytech 1"...

    Welding on a vehicle

I didn't several times, and when I did it was usually because it was going to be in the shop for an extended period of time and I would just disconnect it to keep it from being drained (dome lights, etc.). The welding I did the other day was on my '03 Tacoma, and it was some substantial welding...

    Welding on a vehicle

Well being the engineer that I am.....I went ahead and took one for the team and conducted my own experiment last week :D. I left the battery connected and welded steel plate stiffeners on each side of my frame, and I'm not talking about a few tack welds, I'm talking about burning metal for...

Installed a 14,500# GVW Long Tru-Cool auxiliary transmission cooler this weekend. Also went ahead and enlarged the oil pan drain access hole in Bud's skid plate while I had it off. Oh.....and my bumper is turning out great so far :D......

    '03 Tacoma Build

If you have time, you can just post up a picture of your bumper in here and save me the time......since mine's going to look just like yours. Just remember, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" :D. I keep drawing and trying to change it up, but I can't get away from the simplicity of...

Ha....she can start her own thread on that one :ylsmoke:. Got the sliders installed last night. There's is definitely, 100%, without a doubt, a conflict between Bud's rear skid crossmember and the CBI bolt-on mounting brackets. Nothing the plasma cutter couldn't fix, but just wanted to...

Recommendation on a switch or solenoid to disconnect power from the winch?

The obvious - Be sure to check the max amp load on your winch and make sure that the switch you select is rated greater than that for continuous use. I used one very similar to this for about 10 years and it worked great -...

Need some mounting ideas for a Garmin GPSMAP 60 Csx

May want to check these out also, I've ran them in the Tundras, FJ, & Tacoma and have had great results. http://www.proclipusa.com/targetsections/gps.aspx?afid=42&admkt=f6bf280a&gclid=COnrtvTI_awCFQ9Y7Aoda23uRg

    Weight concerns

My Tundra was pushing 6,800 lbs without camping gear and occupants, drove it through 27 states, including the North East and West Coast and never even got a second glance from highway patrol or any other law enforcement....that was while rolling on 40" tires, dovetailed bed w/o mud flaps, full...
