I run a rear mounted front shaft with an 8.8 and H&T. It's a good setup but remember, you'll need to address the 8.8s flange yoke. Mine sits on about 5"s of lift and I'd guess I have more extension than compression for the shaft. May want to pull some numbers before hunting for a donor shaft...
