Interesting the solenoids are the same from Toyota to jeep. I realize Jeep borrowed it but you’d “think” it would have had some changes due to different engines, diff gears, tire size, etc. but cool to know they should work. [emoji41][emoji106]

I hear ya. I’m normally a manual guy in my Jeep’s but the AW4 has shown to be a good unit. Hopefully you can find what ya need.

Agree. That aspect of jasper is a very frustrating one for us home mechanics. They have a great program and produce a solid rebuild but it’s difficult as a consumer to buy. Being forced to go through a middle man usually raises the cost unless you know someone willing to “hook you up”. I...

ATK has a good reputation. Jasper does as well. Some years ago I would never recommend jasper but they have seemed to put a lot of effort in fixing themselves. Iirc, Napa used to sell gopher reman motors and had good reviews. Not sure if they still are.

Good work. Those two top bolts are always an epic pita if they never got touched outside of the factory gorilla that installed them.

Please, Please, PLEASE flush out any of the old coolant from the nearly new radiator, heater core, etc.

Jeep XJ Pop Top Camper Build

It's a crap shoot for sure. I needed my Jeep to get to work. It was only a 20 min drive each way and I filled the radiator before leaving each time. By the time I got home it was bone dry. Got caught in traffic a couple times and had to stop, let it cool, and refill just to make it. Not...

If it has the 0331 head and you’re losing coolant, I’d bet on the cracked head. When mine cracked I had no choice but drive it until I couldn’t. Ended up washing the main bearings and seized the engine. I found a low mile, same year 4.0, swapped on a fresh 6 series head and it drove great...

The other good floorpan mod is reworking the front area to allow grand Cherokee seats (on the GC base) to fit. Much more comfortable seats than the Xj.

It was actually a lot easier than you'd think. Relocating the charcoal cannisters was a small pain but driveshaft never came near anything.

Another option for more interior space is to reshape the floor. I ran a t-case drop on mine so the tranny hump rear of the front seats and the back seat "well" area all got removed. Enough area is created to add a good size water tank or ??? Just an idea I thought I'd pass along. [emoji16]

As long as it keeps body flex to a minimum without placing all the load on small points, you should be fine. As good as the XJ platform is, they just don't have the stamina of an on-frame vehicle over time. Glad you've addressed it and the Jeep is sweet! Do you ha e any more pics or a link to...

You installed frame stiffeners yet? IMHO, that should be the very first "mod" any Xj owner does if they plan to build it. Extends the life of the unibody exponentially.

That's awesome. My first jeep, the one that infected me, was a '67 CJ5. I'll read through your build later, looks interesting.[emoji41][emoji106] In a way you inspired me. I've been pretty down lately and had absolutely zero drive to tinker on anything. Today is a beautiful day and winter is...
