We just got back from a 4-day camping/wheeling trip in Harlan, KY for the April Fools Toyota run - had a blast! Camping on the mountain got a little interesting on Thursday night when a pretty rough storm blew through. Oh yeah, this was the first trip with the Engel also....all I can say is...
The cheapest damn blades you can buy at a local auto parts store, since they will likely encounter more abuse off road and not last as long anyways........hindsight is a beautiful thing, isn't it?
I just figured a review was in order for these little jewels.....
I received them last Thursday right before we were heading out for a 4 day camping/wheeling trip, so I threw them on, excited to possibly get to try them out. I noticed when I was installing them that the little black retainer...
First use a good hole cutter bit like these -

Then dimple dies with a pneumatic shop press (or impact wrench & thru bolt, or a hydraulic jack and steel table, or....anything that will compress the two dimple die halves) -...
Here's the rest of the "latest" mods.....since joining this forum ! I have posted some of this in other random threads, but attempting to pull it all together into my build thread so everything's in one place.

Received my wireless thermometer from Wil yesterday, only took a few minutes to install and works great. The display reads the ambient temp in the truck, the fridge temp, & also has a clock. It only took about 20 minutes on the #2 setting to bring the fridge down to 32F ! I mounted the...
Got the hinge flip kit installed last night, makes the fridge really easy to get into from the front seats. All that's left is my wireless thermometer that should be showing up this week.........
How's this one for high tech? After messing with the latch I was thinking.....maybe this isn't as complicated as it might seem.....yep velcro - works perfect ! I may upgrade the roll cage velcro to white at some point to make it blend in a little better.
I was thinking about...
So I'm sitting here racking my brain for a hold-open strap for my lid....walked around Lowe's at lunch but didn't find what I'm looking for. I know that I've owned items in the past that closed using a small rubber strap with holes in it, that stretched and fastened to a small stud/peg thing...
Yeah, that's the one I was reading about earlier (thought that was what he was talking about, but wasn't 100% sure) - thanks. Not sure if it would help, the way my fridge is mounted it's easily accessible from either seat.
I just have to come up with a latch/catch mechanism to hold the lid...
I finally got my Engel installed, all I have left to do is figure out a latch system to hold the lid up while opened. Last night as I was walking in from the garage I noticed my fiance's vacuum cleaner had a latch deal that held the power cord.......so I figured if it was in the garage it was...
I carry a spare belt, cheap insurance and light weight for something that's easily changed, but could ruin a day not having a spare......in my opinion.
Goodyear Gatorback here.
Yeah that's me. I had LineX XTREME sprayed on the floor pan.
Nope, no links planned. I opted to keep my old trusty (and paid for) Alcan leafs. Now that I've got the on & off road capabilities dialed in it's time to start making it more adventure friendly. I enjoy reading and learning on...
