Had the 60 out and about this weekend, man I still love that thing. Even a fellow portal member I had met before stopped by, Cool!
If anybody who lives local to me wants to check it out, that is fun for me. The more people that see it the better. The cruiser will sell itself that way, and I...
Cool FJ 60
so this truck is in a niche position. guys who like rugged, simple and reliable. I would venture to say that to a lot of us that is the lancruiser statement.
So for any picture inquisitions I guess email is the way since I havent figured out the attatchment method here. Seems...
More pics to see
So here are some pictures of interior, cargo and rust. Might take me a few "posts" to get them on here; as i am not so savy.
That being said, feel free to ask for more of anything from me on this cruiser as I am more than happy to talk an ear off now and the and anytime...
The 60
Drummond is an incredibly honest and humble guy. He, like most of us are so suited for this truck.....self sustaining, multipurpose, like a tool for all things non specific. Go to the store; done. go bad places with no worries; done. have an awesome trip to wherever and however far...
Brakes are good, frame pics coming, no rust repairs but the original owner or so must have have a minor repair done that is a rear quarter panel repair. Only noticeable if looked for pretty hard. It has all emmission compliance components, but I have never needed a test on it where I live...
The engine has about 90k on it, the factory 4spd has around 250k on it (but I have a replacement if ever needed with 100k) the trans is solid and has given me no reason to mess with it. The gears are 4.56:1, the knuckles were gone through about 110k ago, and only show a slight sign of grease...
My 60 for sale
There are all five factory seat belts, I have two little ones and this was my daily driver for 8 years or so.
I have towed trailers sometimes, a tent trailer to northern montana, and around the favorite mountain secret spots. It is great at that. The cruiser out tows all my...

I think leaf springs lose their "spring" over time but an engineer told me once that spring steel never loses its spring. Who thinks that they just "settle" in and thats it? My OME leaves have 100K on them and dont seem the same, but if I'm wrong its buku mula.
Gone is the 80
Good bad or otherwise; I'll miss it and you in it. Now who will extract me when I get overzealous?
We vboth know it wont have a Ram on it!!!!!!!
Exp. trailers
My trailer is basically custom built for these type applications. It's definately true that the O.E. springs on the military trailers are way too stiff. I bought some used springs fropm the rear of a jeep cherokee and added add-a-leaves (rancho $60) and it rides like a dream w/...
silver fj60
My cruiser sits on 315/75 16 BFG mud terrains. I originally ran 15 in wheels but found the sidewalls on 16 in tires actually work better at lower air pressures in expeditionary applications. The roof rack is a combination of things both bought and fabricated. The rack is a pretty...
V8 or I6?
I drive a 60 w/ a chev v8 conversion. Very expensive conversion in order to ensure reliability. If a person wants reliability, stay factory parts and toyota does the best job w/ long term reliability. An 80 series sound best. I know of an earlier model w/ 120k for $9000. Sounds...
Ultimate cruiser???
I think the engine from an 80 series (supercharged or turbo?), axles and suspension from an 80 under a 60 or 62 (creature comforts) would give better utility and ride w/ power to spare. Not a rock crawler exactly but can keep up with a lot of top notch trail rigs; and still...
Here is the chant---Taco! Taco! Taco!
Dog on the back seat, six speed, 26 miles on it, (Wife drives it every day, and loves the 3 in lift and nitto tires. Just a perfect picture. Oh, you already have a 4 runner?
I've driven that trail in conjunction w/ cruise moab. We camped at airport and finished out the next day passing by white crack campground (which is about halfway). White crack has awesome views, but in the wind would be horrible. Airport is less "out on a point" if you will, so wind is...
