M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

Yep - that's what I found. The tire could probably go under the frame rails, but not brtween them.

    Heavy truck 4x4 conversion shops

What everyone who's modifying a truck (or medium ambulance) needs to find is a local, independent repair shop. Freightliner touched my truck ONCE, and I'm still whimpering about their prices. I found a local place just a few miles away that I use when I run into something that I just can't...

Medium Duty Ambulance FAQ (Freightliner, International, GMC, Chev)

I did some more digging, and Furrion uses this connector in a power port to connect their solar panels to an RV. It's available from Amazon for $24.00. I'm installing several on the exterior of my buggy for portable floodlights/etc. Furrion uses pin-1 for positive, and pin-2 for negative...

Medium Duty Ambulance FAQ (Freightliner, International, GMC, Chev)

12 volt power is a challenge when it comes to plugs and sockets. The standard cigarette lighter plug is a pretty flimsy connector, yet it shows up all over the place. The European cigarette lighter plug and socket are much heavier duty, but they are an interior design, and not intended for wet...

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

The 4 kW Onan gasoline or propane generator measures 30" long, 19.4" wide, and 13.8" high, with a total weight of 168#. I had looked at the space between the frame rails for mounting a 30" diameter spare tire, and I remember that it was too tight. My own 4 kW Onan will go in Compartment #2 (the...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

I suggest a medium ambulance - lottsa room, and more fun to play with. You can even find a Ford - maybe a 650.

I did a search for Panasonic inverter microwave, and Panasonic has multiple models to choose from. Panasonic makes a 950 watt model that pulls about 1200 watts. If I run it at 80% on the inverter, and 100% on shore power or the generator, I should be ok. At a price of about $120, I'll try one...

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

I think I'll try the 950 watt Panasonic. Their use of inverter technology might let it work with a Vanner. At a cost of less than $120, I'll take the gamble.

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

In my case, I'm keeping the Vanner 1050 watt inverter, so I'm looking for a small enough microwave to not overload it. Since Vanner is a medical design, I"m thinking that their short term rating is very conservative, so I'm going to try a 600 watt microwave and see what happens. I have the...

Buying & Building a Medium Ambulance into an RV – The FAM-BULANCE

Forgot to mention - if you have hydraulic brakes, you may have to replace brake lines down the road. Fire equipment and ambulances are parked indoors over a trench drain, and the constant high humidity really corrodes brake lines. MNtal snd I have both replaced all our lines after a line blew...

Buying & Building a Medium Ambulance into an RV – The FAM-BULANCE

Many times, the vinyl lettering has been clear coated, which can make it a royal PITA to remove. Usually, a heat gun is needed, and some people use a Wizzy-Wheel (sp?) (Amazon). GEV removed my lettering, so I only need to do a little wet-or-dry sanding, add a squirt of clear coat, and then some...
