Soldered Deans plugs to the LED strip lights I'll be using inside the bus. I have a 12v LED dimmer coming, and I'll run it all to a Blue Sea or Painless fuse box off the batteries. They are plenty bright, but hard to see it in the picture:
Things I did this weekend:
- Removed 4 or 5 wires from the harness that didnt go anywhere.
- Got the horn to work, and found out how to actuate it! (push the turn signal wand)
- Removed grill, front bumper and rear bumper. Need to get new turn signals front and rear.
- Got 2 dash lights to work...
I did some work this morning! I drove it around the block to warm it up, and then drained the oil. Looked like tar! I'm changing the oil filter, and I added some diesel kleen to the fuel it's drinking to hopefully clean the injectors a bit. I've inspected the airbox and changed the oil in the...
We're going to cut and install a couple camper windows where they are wanted once we plan the interior.
Right now I'm finishing up gutting the interior walls and insulation. We're also going to rip out the old wood roof, and then re-insulate everything and put some new wall in. I just added...
Yeah, the gent I bought it from, Gary I think his name is, bought it from a guy in the SF area who had 2 of them. It was in Klamath Falls...
The roll up door is trashed- we're going to put some swingers back on it eventually.
I started tearing the old floor out and discovered some treasure! Under the rear panel is an old Webasto heater:
And next to that was the roll of original MB tools!
Hi folks,
I'm redoing a Mercedes bus interior and wanted to know what some popular option would be for interior insulation and wall material. The current Sprinter has this setup:
Walls: (some kind of light corrugated plastic)
Floor: (thick and hard)
I was thinking I could go to a...
I would like to do the interior walls and floors like the new sprinter. I took some pictures, but was wondering if anyone knew what the wall and floor materials are called, and where I might find them. (Or similar) I can always go to TAP plastics and get some kind of sheet, but I thought I'd...
Did more work on it today. Cleaned it out a bit, bled and cleaned both fuel filters, and drove it around the block a few times. Fun stuff! Here are some progress pictures:
The inside before:
Tore out the partition:
Under the old wood walls are the window areas, insulated.
We're...
Just picked this up:
- OM314 4cyl Diesel, 4 speed. Needs some minor clutch work, a seat, a couple tires at some point and some awesome Euro paint. It was a bus with windows but they were removed and sheet bolted over the holes. It's empty in the back, ready for a camper conversion or...
Got back from Northwest Mogfest (northwestmogfest.com) and camped out of the Dodge again. Love it! Very comfy.
We love our Gear Pockets hanging bag- very useful for communal items that get used often.
I have a temporary raised sleeping platform in the back, which I'll redo once I get...
I'll look into the "overlanding kit" offered by Thuren and Carli, thanks!
The swing-away I'm building will hold fuel cans on one side and probably a locking box on the other for my generator. The spare is staying under the truck. I'm going to try to keep the boxes low enough so that the rear...
My plan was to have the back half of the space under the sleeping platform contain the auxilary power, air and water systems, and the front half (closest to the tailgate) be slide out drawers. I'd like to run air quick-connects to each side of the canopy to be accessed through ports, like this...
I have a 5.9 2007 2500 6 speed. I bought it for the engine and tranny, which are legendary! Only 44k miles, but no other problems. Great mileage and a real lever to shift into 4wd!
