The recovery points are in line with the frame mounts. It attaches useing the factory bumper mount that slide into the frame. They are bolted to a 1/4" steel plate that is welded behind the recovery point. The recovery point is welded from the back side and front.
Decided to try the bumper from my duramax on the suburban. Not as much fab as I thought it would be.
Plan is double swing out. Tire on driver side and a what ever on the passenger side.
Finally mounted my rear shocks. The Bilsteinon hose fitting to the reservoir would not clear. I also had to trim a little metal out of the way on the driver side.
2.0 Fox next to my old Bilstein 7100 series. Fox has a larger shaft and body.
I have been thinking about a piano hinge. Need to finish my on board air and get the box back in the truck. It is almost Turkey season and being able to stay in my truck while hunting, opens up a lot of options for me.
I was going to put this same sway bar on the front of my duramax and just never did. This suburban feels like it has more body roll then the duramax. I also need to finish the track bar. Between the track bar and new sway bar it should drive way better.
I like the rear duramax sway bars. I was...
I put my 38x13.50 on and they are all up in the sheet metal. I have a set of 38 x 14.50 I think will just eat the fender and spit it out.
I might look into the wheel spacers.
Sway bar time. Ordered my parts from Speedway Engineering. 39" bar 16" arms 30° drop. Have to build my own end links.
Sway bar mounts in stock location with the stock bushing.
Just went through this last year with my 04 chevy 2500. I was looking at Aluminess but, they had nothing for my truck. I also called Buckstop.
I ended up ordering a Trailready rear bumper (made at Buckstop) and a set of 1 3/4" poly performance spindles. Pin latch to lock in open position and...
I vote front mounted in a quality bumper. Need to winch truck out backwards use 3 snatch blocks. I recommend a in cab control set up of some sort. You will be surprised how much you use the winch when you dont have to hook the controller up everytime.
I am also a fan of a front receiver hitch...
I have a front buckstop also that I will sale. I will ship them anywhere on your dime. The rear swing outs are not completely made yet you can make the swing outs carry what ever you want. Shoot me a PM with your phone number and I will give you a call.
Any one looking for a rear bumper? 04 chevy 2500 HD rear. Trailready rear with recover points. Was making a double swing out, poly pe Rd formance 1 3/4" spindles and watchin pins to lock it in the open position. One side spare other side cooler. Located Athens, Ga. $1100
Trailready rear bumper. Was making a double swing out then rolled the truck. One side spare tire other side was for a cooler or box. Passenger side swing out has a receiver hitch in the middle for a bike rake or additional storage rack. Poly performance 1 3/4" spindles, pins to lock in open...
I vote for a 2500 suburban. Some had 4:10 from the factory. Like others have said. Get a " lunch box locker" for the rear. 8.1 is nice but, the 6.0 has more after market support and often more parts on the shelf at the parts store.
Once you have a 2500 you will like it.
Got my black door handles and tow mirrors installed. Truck looks way better. Also started to work on getting the ARB dual compressor mounted. Going to try and mount in near the rear driver side quarter panel. Tight fit but think I can make it work.
Also another photo of my truck made it on to...
I have the draw system about finished. Before I mount it in the truck I need to get my ARB dual compressor mounted. Thinking about near the rear factory sub compartment. The other part of this is I run my compressor and air lockers through a SPOD. So first we need to mount the SPOD.
I ran the...
In the truck the draw had about a half inch of clearance from the tail gate. The draw is built with skateboard bearings and 1" square tube. It holds itself up. Skate board bearings and square tube.
Got both draws cut down today. Still have to screw the top down and mount the fronts with the latches. I am also going to come up with a extension that I can flip up when the second row is folded down. I test fitted the mattress.
Also started changing out the exterior door handles with black...
