    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

Originally I was going to do a gas motor but after spending countless hours doing research and talking to people whose opinions I value, I've decided to go with a diesel. The truck will be a 2017 or newer - ideally a lightly used 2020. Two main reasons for the diesel: longevity, as this will be...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

We've been out and about a lot over the last few weekends. All over Moab, two trips to Thunder Mountain and a trip to the San Juans. Leaving on Wednesday for 32 days through Idaho, Washington and Oregon. The truck's running great, camper's awesome. Had to install a new battery yesterday while...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

We've been out and about in Moab the last few weekends, camping, hiking and mountain biking. We discovered some awesome campsites and took the truck on some of the most challenging roads yet. It's performed flawlessly through it all. We love the Four Wheel Camper and now have somewhere around 43...

    Possibilities for my F-150

Sounds like it'll be a sweet setup. I've got a 2015 F150 Lariat w/ short bed and a FWC Raven in the bed. I put a 2" lift and 295/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it. Very little I'm not happy with in the current setup aside from storage room for a family of 3 who spends all their free time...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

Last weekend we "escaped" Moab by camping and mountain biking in the area around Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands. Friday night we paid for a site at DHP, which had an electric hook-up and rode all of the Intrepid trails with outstanding views into Shafer Canyon. On Saturday we did a big loop on...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

For those interested I did a fairly comprehensive write-up on my blog about the suspension, wheels and tires on my rig. I dive into what I'm running, why and how it's all working out. Click the link below to visit (with pictures!). Part Two: Building the Ultimate Adventure and Photography...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

The AAL's were a significant improvement. Really didn't change the ride quality at all but gave me the extra lift in the rear to level it out. For such a cheap upgrade, there's almost no reason to not do it.

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

On Sunday we went for a hike to Jeep Arch in Dragonfly Canyon, which was really beautiful and quiet. After that we drove down Potash to Thelma and Louise point. I'm discovering that the ride is much smoother at higher speeds which is great except that I'm not sure I want to subject the FWC to...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

Yesterday we made a break for it and spent the night at a sweet campsite above Long Canyon outside Moab. It was windy, which is to be expected during spring in Moab, but not so bad that we couldn't spend some time outside enjoying the late afternoon light. We explored the canyon rim, looked for...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

I finally made the rear suspension upgrade I've been threatening. I purchased a set of Auto Spring add-a-leafs from Stage 3 Motorsports and had them installed locally at Grand Tire in Moab. The AAL's are claimed to add 1.5" of rear lift after settling and up to 950 lbs. carrying capacity, which...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

Over Christmas we spent two weeks hiking, mountain biking and camping around Phoenix. The first two days were amazing, the next 4 1/2 were non-stop rain and the remaining time was a mixed bag. Still, we managed to do some great, long rides and a couple fun hikes, all the while camping in stellar...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

Yes, yes it does. There won't be any hotel rooms, campgrounds or dispersed camping available, and it'll take over an hour to get into any of the restaurants. Definitely not the best time to visit Moab.

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

That's awesome! April is actually the single busiest month of the year in Moab. Holler at me when you head this way. Happy to share beta on sweet campsites, best places to eat, things to do, etc.

Damn good to know. I'll be picking up a full-size spare on a Method wheel soon.

    thoughts on full size

I went from a 2001 Tacoma to a 2007 FJ Cruiser to a 2006 Tundra and now a 2015 F-150 w/ a FWC Raven camper. I'm already planning my next build and it'll be a 3/4 ton with a flatbed and a FWC Hawk flatbed camper. Yes, the Tacoma and the FJ were much better off-road but I'm learning that the big...

Hot damn, that's great news! What suspension are you running? Any trimming necessary to fit them? Photos? Thanks!

I'm leaning toward the 285's instead of 305's. Good to hear you don't regret the switch.

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

Had a chance to process a few more photos from the trip and thought I'd share them. We'd hoped to see wild burros while in Nevada and weren't disappointed. We saw one standing just off the trail we mountain biked and then, on our drive out, we saw this, um...pack, herd, family? The next morning...

    2015 F-150 Adventure Rig

Finally got around to processing a couple more photos from the trip. Holy crap, that doesn't sound good. No, I haven't - thankfully. If I had a choice I wouldn't buy a vehicle with a sun/moonroof but this one was everything I wanted at the right price - except the moonroof.

Thanks! We don't, and I don't like that we don't. I don't think it'll fit but I've got to have my tire folks look at it. Not sure of any other options if it won't fit under the bed. I don't have any photos of the interior just yet. I'll try to get some on our next trip or at some point when it...
