I've spent way too much time looking for sliders and I've found...one set. They're made by Smittybilt and even though they're bolt on (so the ones on my FJ and they took all kinds of abuse), they're supposed to be real, honest to God sliders. I wanted some that could also be used as a side step...
That makes two of us! We used to travel together in an FJ Cruiser w/ a roof top tent so the FWC on an F-150 should be downright luxurious by comparison. ;-)
None. When I bought the truck it had smaller BFG AT's and a leveling kit. The first thing I did was replace the stock wheels and tires with the Method's and Nittos. I drove it that way for about a month before installing the suspension lift. I didn't notice any difference in the ride quality...
They offered to re-valve them. Before we do that, we're going to crank the coils down about 1/2", as they're currently set at around 2 1/2" of lift, which is close to the max. That should soften them up a little bit. I'll then give it a couple thousand miles to see how it goes.
We took Betty out for her first real post-suspension upgrade adventure and ran a couple trails in Colorado's San Juan Mountains. I've done just about everything over there in either a Tacoma or FJ Cruiser, and we spend a lot of time hiking and mountain biking those mountains, so it felt like as...
And now for the really good, exciting stuff...suspension!
I ordered King coilovers with compression adjusters for the front, Icon Delta Joint upper control arms and a set of Bilstein 5160 remote reservoir shocks for the rear. All of it's getting installed tomorrow and I'll post more photos...
We're back from a long road trip to the incredible Pacific Northwest and several items I ordered for Betty had arrived so I thought I'd post up a little update.
Since it's hotter than Hades in Moab these days (and every summer) I ordered a Weathertech SunShade window shade to keep some of the...
Yeah, I just quickly Googled it when I looked at the payload ratings. The other two campers aren't an option. I considered both but am not a fan of them. Too basic and too small for the price. The Four Wheel Campers get installed on Tacoma's all the time and they have even lower payloads. I'm...
Yesterday we took Betty on her first mini-adventure, a quick trip into the La Sal Mountains. We live in Moab and it's amazing that we can leave town in 95 degree temps and 30 minutes later it's 30 degrees cooler. We tried driving over Geyser Pass but got turned back by a significant snow drift...
Thanks, everyone.
A little bit more about my history with rigs. My first real "adventure truck" was a 2001 Tacoma Crew Cab. I put a shell on it, built a platform in the back and did an OME lift w/ 33's. I put 170,000 miles on her before trading in/down to an FJ Cruiser in 2007. I modified it...
Last month I picked up a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew short bed w/ the 3.5 EcoBoost as the platform for my family's newest adventure rig. We've been a Toyota family for twenty years but last year I was issued an F-150 at work and fell in love with it. Toyota hasn't done much to compete in...
Do you know if any/all of the coach electrical, plumbing and structural systems (i.e. cabinet screws, etc.) have been fortified for use off-road? We have a small motor home now and just driving down a washboard road at 10 MPH causes screws to back out and I'm always worried about pipe...
