Just like the title says, I need to seal an aftermarket camper style window with aluminum flange to my steel van body. Some folks talk sikaflex, some talk 3M, some say silicone (don't say silicone)...what'd you use? Where'd you get it? Thanks!
Been let down by Rancho myself but have run KYB on several vehicles now, my van and a CCDRW F350, plus some lighter duty stuff, and been very pleased in both performance and longevity.
Have you checked the installed height?
The coils touching is indeed part of their design, and the design of all coil springs. It's coil bind and in a progressive spring such as yours it's how the rates change as the spring compresses. When the more closely spaced coils bind it shortens the...
Wondering about the weight of a truck, I called a recycler near me and they wanted $4 for a weighment. I just grabbed an old bed frame from an apartment dumpster on the drive over and they weighed the truck as I drove in, I threw the bed frame on their scrap pile, and they weighed me as I drove...
My current (personal) van has no sound-deadening other than OE. A previous project, a work van I practically lived out of for several months at a time was not a diesel but I saw significant gains in sound deadening when I removed the OE insulation from the doghouse, lined it with foam-faced...
Opposite is true in my experience, actually. This is with linked bags (left and ride sharing a line) and when the body leans the bags exaggerate that by transferring air toward the higher side. Some folks actually do this intentionally to force articulation in stiff IFS rigs like the Isuzu...
There are two basic styles of bag setups for the suspensions with leaf springs set outside the frame rails (vs directly under the rails).
What SpencyG has is what I call "bag on axle" vs the other style "bag on spring".
In "bag on axle" there is an axle-side (lower) bracket beneath the bag...
I tried a set of late model 17" Dodge wheels on my 89 E-150 and the hub pilot hole was too small on the Dodge wheels. Could've been cut to fit the hub but the return lip's strength and wheel cracking was a concern.
Currently have 2004 E-150 16" steel wheels in place of my original 15" steel...
Strap wrench ****** (for the win). A ratcheting wrench on top makes it even easier/quicker/less bloody.
BTW (by the way) I went with KYB Gas-A-Just and love them.
FYI year model helps a ton when you post
What ride height was it at when you took these measurements? They'll change as the axle moves as it's split.
Lowering the axle pivots isn't necessary. I'd look into the high zoot ranger kits (97 and earlier of course) with modified beams for inspiration.
With front controls on defrost can you get heat in the rear? with front controls on ac can you get heat in rear? These are mode switch tests and will isolate the flap if it's at fault
