Van Clothes Closet - How deep to be useful? Alternatives?

Read your build thread but can't find details of that seat and its hinges. Can you point the way please?

    Boomer the Quadravan 4x4 Camper

Boondocker, thanks for sharing!!! It appears your van and Boomer share some important similarities. Diesel, 4wd, etc. What axles do you have? I believe you and SpencyG have the same fuel tank capacities and both state your weights were "full of fuel" so that's 38 * 8 = about 304 lbs right...

Van Clothes Closet - How deep to be useful? Alternatives?

The vanagon westfalia clothes closets hang clothes side by side across the van, not front to back. They're accessed from the front through a hinged door. By doing this they can cram a dozen or so hangers in them. I don't want to sound smug but why not just fold the clothes you want to store and...

    2WD stock spring upgrades?

It's a coil spring, not a coil-over shock. The terms get mixed up (see 1st post)

    Boomer the Quadravan 4x4 Camper

I'd say 8,600lbs for your rig is pretty darn good. My 89 E-150 of equal length but with a Sportsmobile PH top, 4.9L 6-cylinder, ~10 gallons of gas in the tank, 1/4" plywood wall paneling, fiberglass insulation behind that, bare steel floor, only the two front-most seats, and little else inside...

    F350 7.3 Powerstroke SCLB 4x4 ZF5 97' OBS Build w/ Lance Camper

I'm very happy with my Happijac tiedowns. Been on two trucks now and don't sacrifice ground clearance like Torklifts. I personally think Torklift tiedowns or bellybars are more likely to damage campers but that's just IMO. I use a 1/2" horse mat from TSC. Very durable, thicker than bedmats and...

I've programmed several x-gauges into mine. They're on the sg2 site

scanguage2 or other, also air fuel mod chips and such reviews, likes dislikes

1995 is a weird year for OBD, especially diesels since emissions standards were different for heavier rigs. 1994 were all OBD1 so no Scangauge compatibility 1996 were all OBD2 so full Scangauge compatibility 1995 is kinda hit-n-miss with being the transition year

scanguage2 or other, also air fuel mod chips and such reviews, likes dislikes

ScanGauge2 works fine for mpg with diesel. It calculates mileage with VSS, injector PW, etc. I like mine and use it a lot on a 2002 CC DRW PSD.

Gen 4 body to gen 3 chassis swap questions

Yes the front frame is substantially different. Crumple zones were added so the frame is longer. The frame is about the same width overall but the newer frame rails are thicker, taller, and wider. The gas tank locations are altogether different so the fuel filler locations are different as are...

Gen 4 body to gen 3 chassis swap questions

both vans in the thread you linked are of the same, 3rd, generation. If either is a 1992 it would be in title date, not manufacture date, and it's manufacture date that makes the difference.

2003 Dodge Ram Van 3500 Build - Part Time Traveler

GREAT WORK. I have a tip though... Had a similar thing happen to my van but it was from a brake pad that delaminated and sprayed the whole passenger side with tiny metal flakes. Couldn't see anything at first but after a couple rainy days I had rust specs just like your pic. I scrubbed the van...

    Onan 2800 Microlite installation question

Impossible to answer. I've installed several Onans, including the exact model you asked about, and whether or not there is a gap above the generator depends on your cabinet's interior height, not the mount kit. Hope that makes sense.

Water Proof Interior Build - Ideas and Help

They have overlapping flaps at the seams like a dry bag. I'm not saying it's impossible for water to intrude but it's been accounted for and I've never had a problem with it. Reckon so

Water Proof Interior Build - Ideas and Help

Swap to late-model OE seats and add Wet-Okole neoprene seat covers. Waterproof, extremely durable, extremely comfortable, and new seats are more comfy than the old over-padded and flat conversion seats anyway.

Need expert repair advice - urgent

THAT is BS lol OMFG you ever looked into a catalytic converter? The newer ones look less directional than the old rod-style I suppose but 98% of them ARE directional. A post-cat 02 sensor is a big giveaway but even a cat with no sensor bung is directional unless it's a very rare bird. I've never...

Ford van questions. 460 vs the 7.3 idi

The original 7.3, the IDI, is amazingly durable and inexpensive to maintain. . The 7.3 PSD is also amazingly durable and can be a real powerhouse. . In 1994 light truck diesels weren't very popular at all. Farmers, construction crews, RVers etc were the only real market for them. The PSD and...

Ford van questions. 460 vs the 7.3 idi

If, by "if that will work" you mean 'will it swap out simply and without large-scale modification/fabrication' then No, it will not work. . If what you mean is 'is it possible' then Yes, it's possible. It would require large-scale modification/fabrication and a complete re-wire of the engine bay...
