I've since upgraded to a 2M/70cm with APRS capabilities and use the same mount and antenna for HAM and GMRS. Works great.

Not at all. Great range as long as you use a quality antenna and cable and not amazon knock offs. Used a quality meter and I'm around 1.01-1.2 across the GMRS range. Great signal quality.

I'm partial to the Rugged Radios Jeep A pillar mount. They make one for the passenger and the driver side. That said, I wish they stuck with the original 2 bolt design but the single bolt works fine. -D

Question about adding solar to the Ursa Minor: What have you all used (or are thinking of using) to run solar to a charge controller located inside the jeep? Where would you locate a gland (assuming you are using one)? (Top of the roof or vertical along the rear edge maybe?) Cheers, Dan

Do those new square hatches lock in place? I think the Gen 2 "puzzle piece" hatches just lay in place and I think I read somewhere that if you kneeled on them in just the right spot you could end up falling through or something?
