The lever comes off easy. if you look closer the lever has a spring action plastic part that keeps the lever from popping out. Just spread that plastic part outwards and the lever comes out straight.
Still contemplating OEM or used one from salvage stores :smilies27. Winter is fast approaching...
Thanks guys, finally got it out. Any suggestions for where to get a replacement heater core? I have read different opinions: buy used or buy aftermarket r buy OEM?( OEM is expensive :Wow1:)
Can anyone vouch in their experience with a aftermarket one, how are they holding up? Please point me to...
Hello, I'm doing heater core swap as mine is leaking. I'm stuck at the last step, there is a white plastic moving peace which is in the way of heater and I do not know how to take it out. Please see pics. Any help greatly appreciated. Want to do this befor east coast winter hits hard :(:(

I've read that changing the heater core would mean a complete hvac system haul. As in recharge a/c put in compressor oil and stuff, that is how the montero system has been designed? Can some one help me out here if this is true and it's not as simple as swapping out the core?
Thanks
Tacking this today, got everything out and then dropped the coupler in the engine bay between the firewall and the engine..... it's nowhere to be found FML!!
Hello, I have Gen 2.5 Montero. I see white smokes coming out of my went and the windshield gets foggy everytime I drive also the coolant level drops. I think it's a clear case of coolant leak inside the cabin, so heater core or the rubber parts around it? What has been your experience with these...
I have gen 2.5 montero, just installed a new KYB (OEM Spec) shocks in the front and also put 33" all around. The front wheels are rubbing the OEM mud flaps on turns. I understand removing mud flaps will solve the problem. But what to know if any of you with 33" have had similar problems? I read...
Was in the same boat about 3 months ago Trooper Vs Montero. Both have their Pros and Cons. I ended up buying Montero. I will share my personal opinion, YMMV
Trooper
+ I felt the 3.5 LT engine is slightly more peppier than Montero 3.5
+ Choice of manual transmission
+ More room inside as...
Thank you guys from what I've tested so far, I think EGR valve is the culprit too. When I pinch/choke the vacuum line as shown in the below video, the truck doesn't die. So i think EGR is the problem. Is there another test to rule out the EGR solenoid? Would hate to replace it and find out...
Hello All,
I have done research on this but do not have anything conclusive. My Gen 2.5 idles very low (under 500 rpm) once the engine is warmed up. So far it hasn't stalled, also the idle is smooth it doesn't jump up and down. Stays under 500 rpm.
So far I've checked Idle Air Control module...
May be this one will fit your generation 2

Hello all, this is my first time putting such a big tire in any SUV. Just got set of brand new 33x10.5r15 installed on stock rims. Had it done at a small shop around the corner. I noticed there were no balancing bits on the Rims. I inquired and the installer said that for bigger tires (light...
What he said.
Today I scored a set of 4 brand new never mounted 33x10.5r15 BFG's for $400, will put them on stock wheels.

Yup was considering the KYB's Mono they are relatively lower priced and from what I've read they seem to last longer than some of the higher price ones available out there.
