So todays efforts was a little bit of a learning curve for me too.....as always, jobs you think will be quick and easy always tend to take alot longer than expected.
I adjusted the front height of my Matrix coilovers.....settled the suspension a little by steering left to right a couple times...
Suspension Completed
So this is today effort.
Firstly I installed the Phat Bars braced diff drop - I can tell you that rear mount never gets any easier to replace, especially on the floor on jack stands....what an effort. But the rest of the kit fitted up nicely and easily.
I measured...
So I've finally found some time to install the suspension.
Started last night with the extended shackles and rear shocks -
The shackles extended up giving me a good 20mm lift over standard. I'm happy with that. I didn't really want to go higher than that in the rear. Will be keeping her...
Another small update I forgot to mention from a couple weeks back, I sold the Axis sliders to a work mate that liked em, and I bought my self a set of Phat Bars rocksliders.
These are an angled up design with a black checkerplate ontop.
Also, the front Axis bar is for sale.....my hilux...
A couple of small updates -
Took the Phat Bars underbody protection out of the boxes yesterday and gave em a couple coats of black paint.
Their gear is seriously tough/strong....5mm thick plates....from the front to the transfer case.
Also unpacked the wheels I bought -
and removed...
Thankyou Gents. Last few pieces of the 1st Stage of my build have been ordered and am waiting for them to arrive. in 2 weeks, the build starts in earnest.
1. I will have a 32" double row LED Lightbar that will sit in front of the grille on the bar.
2. The Rhino racks top half rail has been...
Great! - If it does ever eventuate, please keep me in the loop please. I have discussed the very same thing with Wyatt Scott from Rocksolid Toys a couple years back, when I was trying to help him bring his RockCrawling 2005 tacoma to Australia for a trip, but we couldnt work out the approvals...
Have you considered Australia as a location?
I could put together for you a group of the tuffest late model Toyota's locally if required to join you guys on a trip - could possibly also get Toyota factory support for it locally.
Ended up buying these wheels today - Vision MANX 17x8.5 P0
Wheel arch flares were also purchased from EBAY coming from Thailand....7" tall by 4.25" wide, painted same colour as the vehicle.
I have a 32" LED Lightbar fro the front bar/grille area and I will be getting another 42" light bar to...
Can you guys share any plans for future expedition locations?
Do you gentlemen only do one expedition a year or more frequent?
Just a suggestion....maybe a couple smaller expeditions done during the year could be made into a 1 hour episode every so often to keep the fans satisfied. Like a 2...
Thankyou for the kind words.
This afternoon I fitted my front Axis bar. The fit is very good, neat and how its meant to be. Looks a little dorky on the vehicle with standard suspension and tyres and no flares, but that will make it all look more in perspective once everything else is added...
I managed to get some time this evening and I removed the factory steps and mounted the Axis Rocksliders.....good fit. Im happy with them. They are angled up as you can see by the pics, and I put a strip of grip tape to the flat infil panel to help the kiddies and misses get in.
I watched the previous attempt a couple weeks ago on youtube.....they onyl made it 40miles out of 120miles......
do they actually make it all the way in the upcoming series?
The previous attempt was a very good look at them realising things like, extra items they needed, things they needed to...
Have been contacted to trial new upgraded tie-rod on my hilux. Only a handful have been released to select people to trial out before being put on sale to the public.
And my front bar, sliders and balance of my suspension kit have been delivered yesterday....gonna be a very busy month.
KSP...
And the latest addition a couple days ago was, with the assistance of Rhino Rack Australia, the opportunity to have them R & D fit their prototype Pioneer Flat Rack with their backbone mounting system to my hilux.
They also provided some LED Lightbar brackets which I will use to...
The Tyres
I scored an awesome deal on a set of 295/70R17 Toyo open Country MT's so purchased 5 of them.
Resting against the hilux for comparison.
The Suspension
I will be fitting Monster Rides "Matrix" height & Dampening adjustable coilovers. I have run these in the past on my...
Hi Everyone.
Some may know me, some might not, but this thread is to showcase the new build of my 2016 2.8D SR Hilux Dual Cab, effectively known as "Punisher 2.0".
For those that didnt follow my previous build, "Punisher 1.0" was a 2007 Hilux diesel auto, with twin transfercases, twin...
