Quick question to the experienced RTT fitted adventurers -
How much of a difference/hinderance in offroad performance does it make fitting a RTT above the cab compared to fitting it below cab height above the bed?
More so when in off camber offroading situations.....would the difference be...
With the new fuel economy requirments Obama states that all US vehicles must have by 2020 or thereabouts on the news yesterday it looks like no mor seperate chassis, hybrid drivetrains of some sort to ahcieve the crazy fuel economy figures the govenrment wants manufacturers to produce.
Wait till you chip the engine.....I fitted a "Chip-It" module last week to my D4D auto with a 3" exhaust.
With my standard diff ratio's and 305/70x16 tyres I can guarantee between 1800-3,000rpm the D4D Hilux will out accelerate a standard 1GR V6 Hilux.
The thing pulls like a freight train.
I...
Scott,
The D4D Hilux is a great engine/vehicle but Toyota has messed up the overall setup of the vehicle.
I dont know if you drove the manual or auto, but the 1st gear in the auto's is very very tall and the final drive of 3.73 in the auto (3.5 for manual) is too low.....
these coupled...
Scott,
heres a similar setup someone sent me pics offthe other day on a landcruiser ute...very great looking setup in my opinion.
You can see itis locked onto the tray sides with latches and can be fuklly easily removed.
What? no hilux?
i cant beleive the current model hilux didnt make the list when the current tacoma got 2nd place?
i cant beleive the 100 series cruise made top spot.....what a lemon!
100 series landcruiser IFS only has the sweet petrol v8 in its favour, the front diff isa the small 7.5" unit...
The auto that is in my current shape 2007 Hilux D4D is an A340F (4 speed) for reference.
1 st gear is too tall for my liking...why they didn't stick the Prado 5 speed auto that comes on the prado D4D beats the hell out of me.
The A340F has a 2.8:1 first gear whilst the manuals in the hilux's...
With the diesels power isnt important...torque is as you would know.
A Chipit power chip has a boost controller built in so you can dioal in another 3 to 4 pounds of boost safely. 3" dump pipe from the back of the turbo and 3"free flowing exhaust works well on the D4D.
These will give you from...
These 3 litre D4D's can be modded to put out almost the same amount of torque reliably as well....I know of a couple Thailand outfits that are pulling 700nM of torque in their hilux's.....low revving...massive torque and heaps of performance. (thats over 500ft/lbs of torque in your measurement)
A couple Hilux's for ya'all.
This is a friends below who is building up a trailer with a rack and roof top tent that is interchangeable with the "topper" on his hilux.....for big trips he will leave the topper on and take the RTT on the trailer and for smaller trips will remove the Topper and...
Any chance of getting the dimension for these racks? I want to see if they'd fit my 07 hilux....
hilux internal bed dimensions are 59 inches wide by 59 inches long.....
could someone measure their 05+ Taco double cab short bed for comparison please?
guys, the extended BJ's are for gen 2's onwards, taco, 4runner, fj etc.....
steep?
you have to understand these are coming from australia plus our dollar is worth more than yours :shakin:
$275 Shipped to the US from Monster Rides in Australia.
PM me if interested. Fit all Tacoma/FJ/4Runner factory UCA's.....25mm or

I have fitted extended Ball Joins to my factory upper control arms...these a 1" long, you can also get them in 40mm (1 3/4") long aswell and they have the grease nipple ontop.
And I get an inch more down travel and it keeps the factory UCA off the coil spring...just whereas before it...
