Anybody with the Maxxair fan having malfunctions? Evidently a lot do based on my research of my problems, though a cursory search can’t find reports on EP, so thought I’d post my experience in case your’s craps out.
Apparently the fan motor isn’t brushless and uses carbon fiber brushes which...
Interesting that it was announced in March and the Starlink website doesn’t include it. Just shows the $50 plan. Are they really offering that or did it die? Can you see an actual plan you can sign up to somewhere?
I have an older (large) InReach I always take, but never had to use. I don’t track or send updates with it. Also a WeBoost that is great much of the time, but can’t make up a signal— and those are the places I wanna be.
WRT to DTC phone satellite: recently had to upgrade my many generations...
I had a 2nd Gen ’09 DCSB Tacoma. The Tundra DC is wider, longer and has a longer wheelbase (146 vs 127, IIRC). The bed is 6.5’ vs 6’ in the Tacoma AC. Kinda depends on what dimensions are important to you. I saved a couple of dimenision specs on both.
Thanks for elaborating. Yeah, Gaia isnt great with highways and some other things as well, but I have a huge base of routes and trails like you, so I keep on keeping on …
FWIW, the 2014+ Tundras have a 44ft turning diameter, which is smaller than the 1st gens and the domestics. As an example, a few years ago I was about a third of the way down the Flint trail switchbacks in the Maze just to check ‘em out before we went up to Cleopatra’s chair for our permitted...
Very cool project! We don’t see enough DIY stuff like this on here anymore. Well done.
Those Bucket Boss round bags are awesome for the skinny, hard to corral stuff. I use one for my 30’ air hose and air up/down kit and another for my portable solar 20’ extension and some connectors. I love...
Hey @donniefitz2 — just came across this and thought it was a great idea. Tried the link and it didn’t work — say’s can’t redeem the code? Does your offer still stand? I downloaded the app, just wondering if I can get in on the longer than one week trial.
At one point I tracked the various electrical draws in my build and made notes. Amazingly, I found them on my phone, so maybe that’ll help. I used the readout from my Victron shunt on the battery and just turned things on and off one at a time.
Camper Electric draw (amps)
Smart shunt and...
@Fergie — I did something similar that may help?. Haven’t used Unistrut, but it’s awfully similar to the Toyota bed rails and I know they have track nuts. I needed to securely attach 80/20 to my bed rails to hold my bench seat. Used some slide in Tnuts for the Toyota bed rail, and then drilled...

I use, and and quite a few other Ovrlnd owners use, these as...
Thanks, that’s helpful to know. For someone building around the Dometic jug(s) that’s clearly the best way to go.
For my purposes, I’m just going to stick with the one dongle I made for the Dometic jug since all the other connectors in my system are the PLC version and I have already have two...
