Anyone have any D110 rims sitting around....

I have a set of stock steel 110 rims, but they are tubed type, not tubeless. May use them for a RRC project unless I can find some Wolf wheels for a good price. Let me know if they are what you are looking for. cheers

    Graham Jackson's TDI 110 Defender

No worries, glad to help. On the cost side, I know there were comments in the D90 thread about the relative expense of this kit. The way I look at it, it's a great compromise between the cost of a new stock turbo (at ~$1500) and the cost of a 2.8 (at ~$7500). It's not cheap, but it improves the...

    Graham Jackson's TDI 110 Defender

The boost side is bead rolled. There is only one tube in the kit for the boost side from the turbo to the intercooler. (First pic, silver tube on right hand side). The intercooler back to the intake still uses the stock hose. The black connector tube is a bit oversize for the job. I may...

    Graham Jackson's TDI 110 Defender

There is no gasket between the exhaust manifold and the turbo. It's just metal on metal but both surfaces have been smoothed. No leaks there on mine or Keiths. cheers

    Graham Jackson's TDI 110 Defender

So close to two years later . . . I'm not one to advocate engine mods on an overland vehicle. Usually such mods just end up decreasing reliability and increasing headaches, while temporarily increasing the 'fun' factor. So it was with a great deal of fore-thought that I entered into this latest...

Since we are back I moved this thread to the completed expeditions forum. For those curious, I'll be writing an article on this for Overland Journal. With any luck Jonathan will publish it. :) cheers

Great stuff James. Camp Six road was one heck of a trip. We had to cut our way in and then drag our way out. And no complaints from the team as we did it. I have to say, lying in my hammock that night listening to the rain start I knew it was going to be a long haul to get back out! And Mike...

Any built 300tdi D1 owners here?

I have a 300 in a Range Rover Classic which is pretty close to the D1. With the auto it was pretty anemic, but that could be because the motor was tuned poorly. After the manual swap and re-timing, the truck went fine. Not fast off the line (need the EVO kit for that), but would do 75 to 80 on...

So it is about a week out and hopefully the planning is about complete. Nick and I have to test out a couple of hammocks, and James and Angela need to get on the road through Mexico so we can meet them in Chan Chich. Route looks pretty solid on Google Earth, but that's all from altitude over...

    TD5 or 300TDI into a NAS D2?

Nope. Just swapping the 300 into a different body. I'll start a thread on it soon. I wish I had another one. cheers

I sold the RRC, but not the 300. That's going into another vehicle. Love the 300, even with all the trouble it gave me. Stay tuned for the new build. I'll post it here and it will be going into OJ as well. cheers

Yes, pics and details. I would have thought that the V8 compressor would rotate the wrong way on the 300. cheers

    TD5 or 300TDI into a NAS D2?

Late in the game, but I'll throw my 2c in: R380 swap for a ZF is easy. Did it in a RRC and it took a weekend. Could be done in a day if you drink less beer than me. You should get a manual center console to replace the auto one. Holes are different. Having just completed a 300tdi swap into a...
