Western Mountaineering all the way. Other than a 12 year old Marmot Col which is hardly used anymore, I use all WM bags.

    Mr. Moody's 2004 Toyota 4Runner V8 Adventure Vehicle

Kristian- I know that he does better by a solid 1 mpg (or more) around town. The trucks have the same tires in the same size, same lift, same sliders. Now with the ARB on the front of ours, I suspect it may change a bit. According to the computer in the car itself, I am pulling 16.1 to 16.4...

    Mr. Moody's 2004 Toyota 4Runner V8 Adventure Vehicle

Good question...there is actually a thread I started a year or so ago when I was contemplating the switch from the LC to the 4th ten 4runner. Check it out. They are really just two different vehicles. The more time I spend in the 4runner, I like it more and more. My 80 will always give me fond...

    Mr. Moody's 2004 Toyota 4Runner V8 Adventure Vehicle

I actually really wanted some sliders from Demello, but they decided I wasn't worth their time to respond to (email and with phone calls) so I went with TG sliders. With powder coat I am about 400.

    Mr. Moody's 2004 Toyota 4Runner V8 Adventure Vehicle

I believe they are the 67" slider. The front end needed to be cut and capped in order to make them fit close to the rockers. Otherwise there would have been a larger gap than necessary. If I recall correctly, they were 150 or so, plus the mounting plates which were another 20 dollars. We were...

    Mr. Moody's 2004 Toyota 4Runner V8 Adventure Vehicle

I have since added the ARB front bumper. It needs some final adjustments to get it just right, but I am confident it can handle a hit if the need arises. In Bluff, UT with Chris (ckkone):

    FZJ/FJ 80 Help please?

I'll echo what others have said, I think it is no more of an issue than on any other truck. Mine was done at 62k. My brother in law had his go at 155k but it was a cooling issue. Seems the real issue comes when the trucks overheat. Many that go for sale have documentation of a HG replacement...

    FZJ/FJ 80 Help please?

I considered a 3fe powered 80 when I was buying. As I came from another 3fe powered cruiser (FJ62) I knew right away I needed/wanted more power. I went with a 97. In my opinion, unless you re-gear, a tire larger than a 31 on a 91-92 or a 33 on a 93-97 will be super slow driving around Utah.

That Indescribable Feeling: A SE Utah Odyssey

Yes, that is my father...John. I blame my pops for my wanderlust. Growing up, our family trips were very rarely to anywhere else besides Arches, Canyonlands, San Rafael Swell, or other backcountry locales where we set up the Springbar for the week, and explored. I am -always- glad to have you...

Hilary's Uncle lives on a small ranch in Pinedale, WY. After Hilary hearing about how much I fell in love with Wyoming on my previous trip, we decided to go spend one last week up in WY before the school year started again. Brett took us out to a lake which we had to ourselves for nearly the...

On The Sixth Day God Created...Wyoming

Sending my wife away for the month to Los Angeles for grad school work at the John Tracy Clinic, I had an entire month to wander around and do as I please with my wonderful kids, Alexander and Olivia. A couple of days without a shower? No problem. Same clothes for 3 days straight? No worries...

That Indescribable Feeling: A SE Utah Odyssey

Similar to what one feels when they try and describe the feelings of love for another person, it is nearly impossible to describe the feeling of being out in the wilderness. This past June, I spent a couple of nights out with my Dad, daughter Olivia, son, Zander, my father in law Steve, and some...
