The War Wagon: A 2005 Toyota Tundra AC's transformation to Overlanding Rig

@Greenyota: You know how sometimes, you find out about another brand, another version, or another manufacturer of a thing right after you've bought it? It isn't happening with the bed rack/RTT rack that I want as a proper replacement for the Thule deal that I'm using now. I'm really glad you...

The War Wagon: A 2005 Toyota Tundra AC's transformation to Overlanding Rig

How's about Blue Lake Offroad? I did my taxes and am using a small percentage of my return to finish the suspension work on the truck. When I'm unloaded (and carrying the RTT and Thule rack, obvi), the rear sits 1/2" lower than the front. When I load down, I'm losing another 2" or so in ride...

Belongs to some jerk I spent five days poking around in the desert with. Oh! I'd forgotten your username, Mike. This is embarrassing.

The War Wagon: A 2005 Toyota Tundra AC's transformation to Overlanding Rig

We did west to east, and the drive to Barstow wasn't terrible. The drive from Avi was a major SOB, though. I think I'd rather spend a couple more days doubling back to Afton Canyon than to do 10 hours at a stretch again. Yuck. We want pics, dude! I think you'll be okay once you weigh it down...

Hey Mark, I got the Coleman lantern yesterday. Put the mantles on, filled with gas, and it worked like a charm. Thanks again!

The War Wagon: A 2005 Toyota Tundra AC's transformation to Overlanding Rig

Man, I wish that vanity didn't factor in as much as it does when I think of doing things to this truck. Preaching to the choir, here, but we all know that works well>looks cool. Luckily for us that most of the time, works well=looks cool.

The War Wagon: A 2005 Toyota Tundra AC's transformation to Overlanding Rig

Took the truck on the first "real" trip on the Mojave Road with the prettier half and a couple of friends. Really put the truck to the test and really highlighted the shortcomings of the rear suspension. Hit bump stops too many times to count, and the reduced departure angle was quite obvious by...

New to Toyota's Just bought 2005 Tundra DC

Your personal use will dictate whether or not a spacer block, and add-a-leaf kit, or airbag suspension will be the answer. For my truck, I constantly have a load of at least 160 lbs. over the rear axle. Adding a spacer block doesn't increase my load capacity, and the airbag suspension is just...

New to Toyota's Just bought 2005 Tundra DC

Congrats on the acquisition of the truck! These Tundras are a challenge to find good aftermarket parts for, but there's all sorts of repurposed stuff out there. Go poke around the Tundrabirds thread for ideas and sources. I'm posting on mobile, so I'll come back with a link to it. Any...

    Window Tint - Pros/Cons/Opinions/Examples

My own experience with dark tint is limited - just my own truck. My commuter has zero tint, and it suits me just fine in NorCal. When I was stationed in TX, it was impossible to get by without tint, and there's no way I'd have owned a vehicle without it. This, as with everything else, is...
