Absolutely inspiring pics, and sketch - you're a talented guy! I'm a big fan of no-plan trips
Thanks for taking the time to share, eagerly awaiting more.
That's my Tundra w/flippac in the pic, I don't have a FWC. But my Tiger is a kissin cousin to the FWC built on an astrovan platform, may be what you're thinking of.
There's enough talented expo-ites in San Diego area I think a buyout of Callen would be great, but it's a big leap into the unknown.
That's Jonny's rig (ultrask824 in the tiger group), great build - a good find for someone looking. This is the one I saw:
HMR I've been thinking about your main propane valve muckiness. I leave mine on all the time (except at gas stations) when traveling because I'm running the fridge on...
Hwy 1 was under construction a bit north of Kirk Creek when I was there, near the tiny town of Lucia (closest phone to the CG) maybe 6 miles away . Two spots where full lane closure makes you stop and wait for oncoming traffic before proceeding. But you can still get through, CA road closure...
Consider the phones/website not working a teeny tiny insight into things to come if you attempt to do business with them. That's a typical business glitch and I would normally ignore it, but not these guys. The nightmare stories of people I know well in dealing with Callen are not to be...
Good to catch up with the FRP folks, and nice trading horses & beer with ya Dave!
I think those things Mike has would be perfect for what you're up to if the bolts are long enough.
I need that mat. Love this thread, thanks for posting pics of your latest trip. Awesome on the stats, it is amazing how much more I get out with a comfortable, reliable rig ... I picked mine up Sep 2008 and have put 38,000 miles on it since then :Wow1:
Still jealous of all your XL storage...
Yep it's pretty big, should handle that crew. It's an 07 Tundra doublecab longbed with a flippac. With the raised floor the area in the bed is 5' x 8'.
There are some pics here, I never did a build thread cause the truck is pretty much stock except for BFG AT tires, just the camper buildout...
Really enjoying your travels. I don't think I'll be able to get that image of donkeys making tequila out of my mind for a long time, a good thing. Very cool on the turtles!
oops, I'm late. Great writeup Dave and thanks for letting me and Pep tag along, was a good one.
Chilly though :REOutCampFire03: let's go back after it warms up a bit!
Thanks for putting on a great event again Dave. The vendor support this year was amazing, almost everyone went home with something from the raffle, very cool.
It was nice to see old faces and meet some new ones too, getting bigger and better every year! Kudos to you and Yoshi :)
Quite a trek, love the long road pictures! Part of me says "boring drive" and part of me says "we're so lucky to have good roads everywhere".
And ... WTH is this??? You just know there's some crazy story that goes with this one.
Looking forward to more :sombrero:
An oldie but a goodie, thanks for posting this up. What's this about fellows getting stranded with snow skis in canoes in the desert? A whole story in itself, sounds like.
Also, if you don't mind - what sort of camper is on the rear vehicle here? Mighty interesting looking.
Not a highjack at all! I was wondering what those commute times were like. I bet most of that time is spent in traffic down "there".
I live in a small mountain town too and we also have fires and lose power all the time. Everyone here owns a generator, and a snowblower :) But my dog loves it...
