Flippac for 6' bed on CL in Boise

barn doors! CL ad: $1500 Flip-Pac camper for sale. Over all good condition, some of the screens have a tear in them but the vent panels are good and zip closed. I had this on my Ford Ranger but should fit most other short bed small trucks. This unit has the rear doors instead of the flip...

Lytro Light Field Camera...it's here, and you can now buy it.

I think it's fascinating - and close to what a holographic camera would need. If it captured phase information as well, voila - real 3D. Hopefully Canon or Nikon doesn't swallow it up and squash it. Glad they're giving the big guys a shot in the arm.

    Tiger (GT and XL) Hunting

Really?? Some of my favorite people are turning Tiger :wings: Be interested to hear an astro-guru's impression of that GT. Hope the lift/canvas issue isn't too bad. I can't believe I was in your town last summer and failed to stop by! One day, one day.

gregd - I'll try and take some measurements of it compressed but I would guess it's about 1.5"? They are pretty flexy, don't know if it would blow fuses in that stepper motor on your Hallmark or not. I never heard of those IKEA springs. Sounds like a good idea, but maybe more susceptible to...

Flippac front window, slider vs fold down slider

I've only had the flippac off the truck once since it was put on, but I believe it was a triple row of bulb gasket all the way around. It's on top of the plastic rail cap - never had a single leak or problem with it. Depending on what kind of truck you're putting it on, you may want to do...

Flippac front window, slider vs fold down slider

If I had it to do again I wouldn't order the fold-down slider window. Cost difference was $100-$150 if I recall. I did wait almost an extra month to get it, everything else was ready but that. Problem with this window is that you had to fold it down to slide it open, I changed it around so...

    Flippac mounting?

You should be able to get by just using C-clamps for the drive home. FRP mounted someone else's flippac to my truck this way for a test fit before I bought mine, it worked fine. I'd stay on pavement though until you get it bolted on. Mine is bolted on through holes drilled in the bed rails.

Sprinting the Coast - Pacific Coast Trip

That's cool - small world. There was a mated pair of peregrine falcons on Morro rock just behind us while we were there, amazing! The birders were drooling over them. Dave/Yosh/Dixie - thanks for a wonderful birthday trip. I still can't believe you brought me a 5 foot bear. Or that I...

I was so busy gawking at your other changes I forgot to ask you about this. I'm blown away by that double-swingaway-bike-with-gas-can-gap hitch of yours! Smart idea and beautifully crafted. So how did the new sleeping setup work out for you?

    The Big Meander, Summer 2011

I'm really enjoying this, thanks! "Honest fences" - love it. The colors and perspective you're getting on these pics is awesome. I must say I was surprised to see snow in the last set given the previous temps, what time of year were you traveling? Colin climbed that hill barefoot? :Wow1:

    comfy sleeping in a pop-top

I had the same feeling about it before I tried it out. I really didn't expect it to work, but it did. I have a 4" mattress in there and while it's a bit more work to close it, I adjusted the 2 side latches up a smidge (one turn) and no problems. Measuring near the side of the camper with the...

    comfy sleeping in a pop-top

If my flippac mattress wasn't glued on, I think you could make it work by attaching velcro to the springs. You can try mine out at the rendezvous if you like. I'll be interested to see your new setup, you've made lots of changes since the last time I saw it. I'd forgotten that some of the...

    comfy sleeping in a pop-top

There’s only so much you can do with a piece of foam, they’re just not terribly comfortable. Of course it’s better than a rock, but after several nights sleeping on foam you start to wonder. You can get thicker foam, they come in all degrees of firmness and you can even get it layered with...
