Can try to get some pattern shots later. But it definitely lights up the road and (most importantly) the edges of the road well. Much more concerned about not hitting a cattle or any of the many small deer-like creatures around than I am concerned about seeing far off into the distance. A...
Sorry for the low-quality phone pics, but this gives you an idea. This is just with low-beams on the 80 Series housings.
Here's low beams plus XMITTERs in the center grille and 2x2 LED flood-pattern squares off to the side (on the stock fog switch).
I like the XMITTERs and they're plenty for what I do, given that the truck very rarely exceeds 40mph.
If I were like some of you who are on highway/pavement more frequently, I might want to be able to throw more light, or throw it further.
I can take a few pictures tonight of what it looks...
Holy crap, I can't believe nobody has bought these. I was searching like hell six months ago and would have happily given you double what you're asking.
Well, where I live (primarily) there is one paved road within 250 miles. Hence, when I'm at home, I rarely exceed 35mph or so.
As nearly all driving is on packed dirt roads or "barely improved" paths, all of which turn to mud in the rainy season, performance on dirt and mud is far more...
Okay, okay, people have been asking for more info on the XZL's.
They're slightly more than 36"... they're 925mm in diameter, which is about 36 1/3 inches, nearly 36 1/2.
People also wanted to see markings, since most XZL pics on the web are of older tires, not ones made in 2012 or more...
Yes, a new pouch needed to be created for the spare, but we re-used the rest of the tonneau.
The 36"+ Michelin XZL is quite a bit larger than the 255/85R16 KM2 it replaced.
Currently, the truck is running a supercharged 4.0L 1GR-FE with 4.88 gears, which we find more than enough power to turn...
So, 36s will definitely rub with anything like a stock wheelwell. Even with the modified wheelwells I had (larger than stock), 36s would rub.
My goal was to be able to run the 36" XZL (9.00R16) with no rubbing, even at full steering lock with the front suspension compressed.
To do that meant...
Some surgery was needed to accommodate the 36's in the rear, even though the rear wheelwell openings were already quite large.
In the front, more serious bodywork was needed and the body mounts were even further strengthened and modified.
It isn't apparent from the photos, but the rear edge of...
Just wanted to post a review of Hans at Mross Import.
I worked with him over the tedious process (over several months) of getting a set of five Michelin XZLs in the unobtanium size (9.00R16) for a Toyota.
Though the process had a few hiccups (most of which were no one's fault), the tires did...
Just thought I'd post a bit of an update.
Truck is running really well, just drove it from Chicago to Denver and it's being packed up soon for a return to Mombasa.
A few changes... the truck now sits on 36" Michelin XZLs (brand new, made December 2012, don't let anyone tell you these tires are...
Just arrived back in the States. Can ship the tires on Monday.
Rovertrader, can you reach out via PM or on email (rhetoric at uchicago dot edu) with your shipping info?
Or let me know if you're not interested and I'll move on to tank87 with no hard feelings.
Assuming you're still interested...
So, I've been skeptical for years. I've seen all kinds of .22 LR kits, each with drawbacks. The appeal of practicing with .22 has always been interesting, but not enough for me to obtain one of these slide kits, or a complete pistol.
I enjoy and often have on my hip a 6" 1911 that I had built...
