Theoretical questions on a Grand Wagoneer

This would be more the right tool for the job if you wanted a wagon versus a pickup. This particular truck is kind of confusing though... it's a 1500 with 8 lug hubs? I thought the 8 lug V was 2500... or does the fact it is diesel change things? Maybe I'm muddled because I haven't looked at...

Which WJ Bumper? ARB vs TrailReady vs LSR

I guess if you did something like the front OEM skid plate used on an XJ that would be plenty strong for overlanding use.

Theoretical questions on a Grand Wagoneer

I constantly waffle back and forth between a WJ and a FSJ as the next Jeep. The WJ would be be gas and go. But will the rear bench be big enough for two teenage boys in the future? The FSJ would be old and is likely to need some work even if you find something that is in great shape. Then...

    BDS lift kit

Yeah, this is correct. AFAIK, BDS and Full Traction will not separate parts. TNT sells pretty much everything à la carte. I'm not sure if some of the JeepSpeed VARs like Currie or T & J have a different relationship that allows individual parts ordering. You will end up paying for it if they do...

    BDS lift kit

FWIW, I won't run a three link on a Jeep that sees lots of on-road usage. Three link is trail ********** only thing as far as I am concerned. The components you've settled on so far is decent stuff - can't go wrong. My short list if I was buying a long arm set up today (alphabetical order): BDS...

Which WJ Bumper? ARB vs TrailReady vs LSR

Yeah, I'm still pretty much sold on the Iceland stuff too. :)

    BDS lift kit

IMO, radius arms would be fine for your usage. If you are considering a four link versus a radius arm due to the caster curve being better with the four link I think that is not a good criteria to base a decision on. While it is valid from a physics point of view the relative difference is so...

    BDS lift kit

Oh, btw I have OME dampers and RE springs on my Jeep. I find the damping a little mushy in the front but I haven't really beat on it yet. I may swap out to try Bilstein 5150s eventually. My buddy has a similar setup (RE springs, 1" taller) but Bilstein dampers and they seem to have a better...

    BDS lift kit

I can't speak to the Full Traction setup - I've never seen it in person. It seems to have a decent reputation. I think it may be popular with the JeepSpeed style crowd. The cross member where the front arms connect to the bottom seems to hang low (in images). I am biased though with the TNT kits...

    BDS lift kit

The only other four link setup that I am aware of is the Full-Traction. I think that Clayton may have a three link in the works but for an overlanding rig I would prefer a four link or a radius arm setup. I haven't heard anything negative about the BDS but then I may not have been paying...

JK to receive new V6 in 2012 (at last)

I'm with Mike. Who knows - Chrysler and/or Jeep may have been sold again by 2012.

Which WJ Bumper? ARB vs TrailReady vs LSR

Wow, that radiator setup is pretty dumb/vulnerable. Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like the ARB has that exposed in the picture at the top of the thread also. I guess you could make a guard for it but then that negates the point of going with the Iceland bumper if the main criteria was...

Which WJ Bumper? ARB vs TrailReady vs LSR

Not that I'm aware of. I'm kind of on the fence about them at this point. I like the look, not sure about the amount of metal that needs to be cut off for the flares. I'm normally a fan of the ARB bumpers but for some reason I just can't get past the look of it on the WJ. It's a nice bumper...

Which WJ Bumper? ARB vs TrailReady vs LSR

If you are worried about weight there is also the winch bumper from Iceland Off-Road. I am making no recommendations, just mention it in case you were not aware of it.

    An expedition truck on portals...

That's impressive looking kit. I'm not familiar with these axles... is that rotor the OEM rotor for that axle or part of the kit?

A few project completed on the Cherokee

You'll save a few pounds when you replace the steel rollers with plastic ones. You can't use steel rollers on synth line apparently.

    Apple Tablet: iPad

Exactly - some times it can be hard to discern the difference between "works well enough" and "gadget geek excellence". Buy an iPad if that's the device you want. If you find it lacking throw on an external GPS. Done.

    Mix&Match Jeeps

I don't dislike your idea but if it were me I'd drop a 60 body on a 80 frame and drivetrain. Less work to end up at more or less the same place with OEM long arm coil suspension. The TLC parts are still more expensive than the Jeep/Dana stuff but not that big a deal.

    Gone Niner

So, some leaves and a 8.8... I thought you were trying to get away from Jeep projects? Oh, right it's a Ford. <nudge /> :D Funny, I've been looking at these lately too.
