    Questions for the IIDTool-saavy

Hi Chris, When we change items in the CCF (car configuration file), what we are doing is editing settings where LR allows changes to be made. The CCF is broadcast on the vehicles bus systems to tell each ECU what it settings are (i.e. what peripherals or optional equipment are/is connected or...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

Excellent road-biased tire. I have 20k+ km's on a set of these on my L322 RR. Quiet, good in dry and wet, excellent wear characteristics. I don't have much snow experience with them, tho (didn't snow here last winter).

"Return under ECU control" would be leaving build mode. Just to be sure: you did not click this after pumping up the springs? Can you post or PM the fault codes you had? If you had a valve stuck open, the EAS would react in strange ways. For instance, having the LR corner valve stuck open would...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

You do not need multiple faults - just one that the EAS ECU considers serious enough to 'hard fault' the vehicle and drop it to the bump stops. In order to pump the vehicle up and drive it like this, you have to incapacitate the EAS ECU. In LR speak this is called 'Build Mode'. You then...

And I was just about to post that a failure such as JAK's is highly unlikely... LOL JAK, just as info: the IIDTool actually has better EAS functionality than the Faultmate due to the ability to reprogram the heights quickly front, rear, or all. All other functions are there: manual control of...

    Looking for an LR4

I really had to chuckle. You live in Colorado and call Land Rover Seattle local? Move to Europe for a while. Your definition of local will change dramatically. lol Congrats. Very nice looking LR4.

    Lucky 8’s Project P38

Can do attitudes are great. I live by this. By the same token I know lots and lots of people with millions of never-ending projects. Or, worse, stuff that looks like it was made in a digestive system. Sometimes buying is better. Not to mention economies of scale....

    Coil Coverting LR3

If you have all work done at the dealers, yes. But if you are resourceful in sourcing parts and have an indy do the work, the difference need not be too much. The EAS in newer LR's is pretty robust (the RRC and P38 area different story...). Air bags are good for 5+ years at least and compressors...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

This is correct. For those wanting a large lift w/o adjustability, rods are a better choice. For those who would like the adjustability as well as a large lift, combining the EASControl or IIDTool with rods allows both.

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

That is the one thing I did way back on my P38 when I first started playing with air suspensions (unwillingly at the time :-)) ): I added a valve between the compressor and the air inlet solenoid (valve block on the P38) to allow me to fill the EAS with an external air supply. I am not a fan...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

The EAS ECU should not notice the small amount of air the lockers use. The only way the ECU monitors this is time to fill the air tank. When a compressor becomes worn and takes too long to reach shut off pressure, a fault is thrown. Pumping up tires that have been aired down using the EAS air...

Who knows the builder of this land rover CSW (with a 130cc or 110 high-cab rear Tub)

Nice. The shape of the top is exactly the same as here - minus the pop top of course. Especially over the doors. http://www.traveltech.ch/cms/front_content.php?idcat=65 EDIT: Just found it. It is these guys http://www.traveltech.ch/cms/front_content.php?idcat=38 bottom of the page

The LR4 — Crossing America Offroad with Tom Collins at the helm!

This is not correct. Only the lowest model RRS does not have a transfer case (and even there it is an option) - and there is some speculation that it is due to fleet mileage / emissions requirements in different markets. I spent a day in a RRS TDV6 this past week - and it def had low range...
