Arizona: 1991 Land Cruiser 1HDT HDJ81 (Fully Built For Travel)

I'll respond with my worst fuel economy, which is doing 80+ mph in Utah. In those conditions I see 17-18. RPM and speed are what kill fuel economy. We saw 25 one tank in Baja, where we were cruising on Mex 1.

Arizona: 1991 Land Cruiser 1HDT HDJ81 (Fully Built For Travel)

Pictures HERE! I spared no-expense building this vehicle, and due to my vehicle ADD, I’ve decided to move onto a sports car and this must go. The concept behind it was the “ultimate” travel machine, built to tackle any terrain thrown at it, while still being comfortable on the highway and...

What do you use for deflating your tires?

I'll chime in here to selflessly promote a new tool we're importing . Indeflate is an all-in-one unit that inflates and deflates two tires at once, rapidly, while balancing tire pressures between the two. Made in South Africa, includes a few accessories (such as a hook to hang it and a quick...

    Maxtrax Xtreme

Matt from Adventure Imports here, we're the US importers for MAXTRAX. I just spoke with our production manager in Australia today. We have the robot set up to insert the teeth into the mould as of this week and should start production in March. They've been thoroughly tested with dozens of...

Hydronic Heat, Hot water, and Engine Pre-heating

I have a Webasto in my 80 series (1HDT) and love it for engine pre-heating. We'll use it to heat the interior once the pop top is installed.

(Opinion) Buying a HDJ8X or not...

I am at least 10K into my 80 for just maintenance items, and it was NOT neglected. It's insane! The injector and injector pump rebuild was nearly 4K alone and it will need to be done on vehicles of that age.

(Opinion) Buying a HDJ8X or not...

I love my HDJ81. That being said, if you're on a budget, I would not recommend one. They are very expensive to maintain.

    Dual Battery for 2018 Raptor

I would love to see a dual battery kit developed. But I might just mount a lithium battery in the rear fender well

Is it possible to get one of these hightop TroopCarriers (or reasonable facsimile) in North America?

I would second Christian's comment on the 1HZ Troopy being slow for the USA. We ultimately decided NOT to try and bring ours to the USA due to speed concerns and ended up with an HDJ81 for North America

dodge 2500 as GLOBAL expedition rig?

The quality control from Chrysler in the late 90s and early 2000s was absolutely terrible. I wouldn't trust one of those trucks to get me to the next down. Not to mention, most of them have been beat up by hillbillies and have issues. I have a good friend who built one as an overland vehicle...

    37 or Bigger Tires

I had no issues with 37s on my F250. It allowed me to go to a larger wheel (20") which meant less sidewall flex with the speed these new trucks are able to carry. I'm not sure I saw a difference other than looks, as compared to a 35, for overland style trips. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Not sure I'd do 37s again. Makes it a PITA to get in/out and to load stuff.
