I just toured Earth Cruiser and looked at a new Terra Nova, built on a 1-ton Cab-Chassis RAM. They are just mounting the camper frame directly to the truck frame. They only have poly spacers to cut some of the vibrations.
On my 2500 RAM, I mounted directly to the frame also. Crossed up and...
Well I moved the EXP to the EC factory in Bend. They'll check it over extensively and put a warranty on the house then sell it for me. Any interest contact Shane at Earthcruiser.com
The EXP is great. Nothing better when poking along a rough two track. The view out of the cab must be seen to be appreciated. The ride on rough washboard is plush.
The TN will fit my lifestyle better. It can tow my large enclosed trailer full of motorcycles. I can haul four guys and...
I don't think notching any 'beam' would be a good thing. It's always best to keep the top and bottom cord undisturbed. Also, it's never good to weld across the cord, along the cord is fine. Any change in the thickness of the cord is a stress riser and will start cracks and break. The...
Instead of E-Track or L-Track that takes special adapters. Look at Kindorf Strut/Uni Strut from the hardware store. It has tiedown sized holes, is very stiff and cheap at about $1.50/ft. You can't walk over it like E-Track, but it's great for along the edge of the platform.
The corn squeezn's are mixed at the last minute, locally. Lots of variation. A low mix is actually a good thing for octane and clean exhaust, but when it reaches 20% it is not good.
Higher altitude in WY helps a lot. East bound from WY is down hill and down wind, mostly.
Is MN high E15 fuel? Much worse.
I've got my worst mileage going west bound across WY when it was 'slightly' windy from the west at 20 mph. Like 10-12 mpg, instead of 18 (Cummins).
The OP didn't say what Toyo's were mounted. The MT's do have an inherent pull to the right. I believe it's due to the tread pattern.
Also, what width are the rims? This will determine how rounded the mounted tire becomes.
Tried higher/lower tire pressure?
I assume he's driving on the RH...
I've been hauling all size of motorcycles for 51 years. Not just my own, but worked at M/C shops for a total of 23 years.
Those wheel clamps put a lot of unusual stress on the wheel bearings. Other clamps on the footpegs are expensive and fiddly.
The best set-up: four tie straps with the...
Sorry, forgot about this thread.
After weighing the rear axle loaded, my EXP was going to have the rear tires very close to max load, axle wasn't even close with an extra 2500# available. So, I had to keep it light as possible.
My solution was to modify an existing MC rack laying around...
The Earth Cruiser's have 35's and are running about 12k lbs. With the 3.0L/Duonic you get reasonable speeds. Low enough gearing for anything you'd practically want to do off road. It will do 65 mph on the flats without feeling strained or over-reved. And, will climb any reasonable paved...
I only drove about 15 miles south of UbeHeeBee crater to camp. But we have driven on plenty of washboard throughout the West US.
This suspension is great on rough roads. The springs are matched to the weight with no overloads and the RadFlo shocks are tuned to the weight also. It will go...
I've found airbags are very progressive. So, they ramp up the spring rate quickly, with very little travel. Just ok on the street, but still harsh off-pavement. There are long travel bags that would be better.
I've thought of using big-port bags that you can hook up to a remote air tank to...
