Overland Explorer Expedition Cabin on 2020 Ford F350

Wow, I really like this setup! The interior layout really utilizes the space well. Do you happen to know the total length? (I'm guessing 25ft)

Ah, it has a Sphygmomanometer. Camper essential!

2020 Ram 5500 DIY Composite Panel Camper Build Thread

lol, Oh man! I'm going to beat this dead horse one more time! I had an opposite experience with the stock flares (4th gen). They looked terrible and still rubbed after all the cutting. It's a substantial difference after installing the AEV flares. I stand by my statement... and I think we drew...

Basically nothing? The AEV flares allowed me to fit 335/80R20 tires without a suspension lift. That's a huge advantage IMO. The AEV fenders are only 1/2" wider than stock, which is why GXV uses those trim pieces (I have no plans to use any trim pieces myself). Tires do stick out a little wider...

2020 Ram 5500 DIY Composite Panel Camper Build Thread

It's probably the equivalent to installing AEV highmark fenders. I had to cut out a lot of metal from the back of the wheel well, including smashing the pinch welds flat. It's not for the weak of heart! I've also read the Ram 4500/5500 benefit from already having the axle pushed forward a bit...

2020 Ram 5500 DIY Composite Panel Camper Build Thread

Looks good! I used something similar from HD and had the same mentality, it's a cheap option that's simple to replace if it sucks. So far, my floors seems to be holding up perfectly after the first 6 days of camping use.

Haha, thanks! I would have preferred a Ford myself over Ram.... Overall I'm really happy we found it and the Cummins is a great engine. Also, you can't beat the turning radius of this truck. I think it's smaller than my wife's Mini Cooper! I actually saw a very similar gov. military truck for...

Sure, I'll do that for you. I just dropped the truck off at the storage lot, but will take some pictures next time I pick it up.

Ram 5500 Fire Crew Carrier Overlanding Camper Build

We just returned from a 5 day trip to UT to visit Zion, Bryce, Escalante and just camping in the back country. The truck did great over about 2K miles. I think the thermostat is stuck open though, because the truck was running cold (150F) when the outside temp was low. I wouldn't have noticed...

Diesel heater: Just a basic heater from Amazon, but works well. I may plumb it into the truck fuel tank at some point, but for now I installed the 10L tank provided. Water tank: I installed a 20 gallon tank with a pump and spigot. This will be updated and improved, but the tank will stay in...

Bunk bed install: I knew when we first got this truck, we would need two beds (two adults, 1 kid). I decided a drop down bunkbed would be one of the only options for the small space. I ended up building a metal frame with a pulley/cable system on unistrut trolleys to make this work. I also added...

Ok, lots of updates! I apologize for lack of posts recently and not responding to some of the posts. I spent the last few weeks working on the truck relentlessly for a trip to UT that we planned for Oct 5th. Talk about stressful! Here we go... AEV fender install: Installing these fenders was...

Ram 5500 Fire Crew Carrier Overlanding Camper Build

I've convinced myself it won't articulate much at all in the rear (probably wrong :D). I'll do some testing today on some forest service roads... The box is built with horizontal beams on the frame and is connected to the frame using the spring fasteners. No subframe.

There's 5.5" uptravel tire-to-box in the rear, the bump stops hit at 4.5." The fender I cut is just above the tire and I'm still determining how to "finish" the cut & fenders. I'm open to suggestions. Either way, it's right there in terms of clearances and a small lift would certainly help. On...

Ram 5500 Fire Crew Carrier Overlanding Camper Build

Wheels came in from Stazworks and I'm very happy with the quality. They also had these built and shipped in a week! I was able to install and seat two of the tires on the wheels myself. The other three tires must have been stacked for a while and they were too narrow to seat the bead myself. No...

I picked up the tires (Pirelli Pista PS22 335/80R20)! They took 27 days to arrive since shipped.:D Just waiting on the wheels from Stazworks before I can test fit. Looks like the wheel chock compartment will need to be removed in the rear.

After the OBA install, I started working on the bed for my 5 year old daughter. The camper inside is pretty tight and that makes adding two beds a challenge. My wife and I will sleep on a trifold sofa that we plan to order soon. A bunk bed for my daughter is really the only option, but mounting...

I was able to get the on board air setup done last weekend. Overall, it's pretty straight forward and the hardest part was just finding locations for the oil lubricator and catch. The compressor clutch cycles on the pressure switch (90-120PSI) and the oil lubricator added oil as needed. The real...

I hear ya and don't disagree. I contacted SIlver State Hotshots and was planning to ask them if they have anything they use for promotional or foundation purposes.
