    Drawers: Metal vs. wood

What kind of sheet metal thickness could you get away with for an upper skin and still be able to stand on top of the drawer system? 18 ga. sounds pretty thin, would you need to add cross bracing to prevent it from bowing, how often would bracing need to be, every 12" more or less? 1/2" plywood...

    Drawers: Metal vs. wood

I really want to build a set of drawers for my F150 as well. I have only really considered wood as the main material to this point but maybe I'll explore metal as a material choice instead. I want to mimic the decked system, two full length storage drawers for general purpose as I use my truck...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

I see a handful of people with bad experiences voicing them, even if through multiple posts. I've seen more people post positives about their F150 than people post negatively. Even if they only posted once to say they love their truck. Every manufacturer has lemons/defects, its what the warranty...

Does a 230 mile/charge range make you more or less likely to buy a Lighning?

I would not be interested in the lightening for similar reasons as those listed above. I would be more interested in a commuter car that was all electric, run to work, errands around town and back home to charge each night. The usage of my truck varies greatly from daily commute to hauling...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

more data points to throw in the mix: 2012 CrewCab short bed with a cap on the bed and typically about 100lbs of tools in the bed Daily commute I was averaging about 14mpg, I climb about 900ft in elevation over 7 miles to work My fiance has been driving it daily for about 2.5 months now, her...

    Roaming Lost: 2022 RAM 3500

Will the saw stay uncovered like that full time? Any worries with rain or dust, road grime? I know chainsaws are made tough but any worries with it bouncing around hanging off the back of the truck?

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

@Photobug congrats on the new bike! I try to remember when looking at used bike posting that prices are what the seller thinks the bike is worth. The bikes you see posted haven't sold yet, I reason in my own mind that'd because the price doesn't match the bike, always need to be ready to act on...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

I am currently leaning powerboost if I were to pull the trigger today that's the way I'd go. My thoughts being that in day to day driving I won't be over loaded and will benefit from the hybrid powertrain. When I pack up for a trip I'll likely be overloaded slightly (<500lbs) with the nonhybrid...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

Going through my own bi-weekly dilemma whether to buy a new truck or not the past day and a half. Have you considered the powerboost? don't think I have seen it mentioned in this thread. Or are you only interested in 2020 and older models used? I'm sure there are some used powerboosts out there...

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

I had a 2016 2.7 with the older 6 speed transmission, not the newer 10 speed. Not sure what gearing was, crew cab FX4 package, normal driving was 18 mpg, going to camp, two lane roads marked at 55, traveling through rolling hills or Pennsylvania it saw as high as 25mpg for a round trip. Never...

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

Nice setup, looking to do something similar for my F150 only make drawers below and a slide, as wide as the tailgate will allow, on top that can be easily removed. Attachment points could be used for tie down locations then if the slide wasn't needed. I'll probably bed liner everything to run...

    eJeep

looks sharp in the picture, will be interested to see if it does in person as well or if it will be another CUV blob. Electric vehicles are exciting but I still think there are strides to be made in the plug in hybrid realm and that that realm is more flexible to meet consumer needs/concerns.

    2021 Titan XD Pro-4X

Really interested in the Titans popping up on this forum, love the extend cab unfortunately my needs can't be met by that configuration. Good to see the love for the 9 speed transmission and more positive feed back on Icon suspension as well!

    2014 Toyota Tundra SR5 Build

Great looking truck! I really like the 4.6 motor glad to see the mileage with it and the tires/lift is pretty good. I'd be happy to consitently get those numbers in my 2012 f150 with the 5.0 on stock tires no lift. Then again with 120k odd miles now, probably due for some maintenance like yours...

The full sized mid-size, my 2014 F150 "Fiddy"

Those sound like some crazy camping conditions... I'd love to get into winter camping just need to get a good setup for it. I think if I was faced with taht kind of cold though, and what sounds like a less than ideal set up relying on body heat alone, I'd be turning tail. Props to you guys up North

The real reason to buy the new Maverick

I guess I was thinking toyotas, nissans (datsons), mitsubishis, etc. but that's a good point that you're 85 is similar in size. I recently acquired a 2005 pontiac vibe as a run around car and was surprised how much more it had in common with 90s vehicles as far as feeling inside the car, than it...

The real reason to buy the new Maverick

I wouldn't call it midsized, maybe its a return to mini trucks? Park it next to a true mini truck and I'm sure the maverick is still massive next to one of those. I would think it would handle all but a travel trailer/enclosed trailer well. Maybe not the best for towing a pontoon either but a...

Bit less MABDR and more Byway as we leave Virginia

Thanks @97tjguzzy that's what I expected for the MABDR, it seems much more mild than some sections of the western BDRs. I'll be doing this in my F150 with a RTT in tow so I'm glad to see you had no issues traversing it with a trailer as well.
