Wait...the Rover guys are the ones who get hurt? uh..... You'll notice I haven't said a single bad thing about land cruisers here, nor have I said the Rover was better in any way. I was simply pointing out that most toyota owners do not have any actual knowledge about the LR3 platform...
Somebody has to keep an eye on you guys....and seriously, that Paseo was really bad. It's OK though, I have a $500 D1 you can poke fun at if you want.
(OK, I just hit 'new posts' and don't usually pay that much attention to which sub-forum it's in...I just click whatever looks interesting)
True enough, though I've specifically stayed away from commenting on the toyota, I'm only pointing out that the above response was completely irrelevant to the posed question.
I'm no toyota fan and if asked would of course favor the Rover, but not at the point of claiming the toyota was junk...
And this is why you don't ask for information about a Rover on a Cruiser forum.
Mr. Mongoose here is giving an opinion on a vehicle he not only doesn't own, but is basing that opinion on a vehicle owned by a cousin that has NOTHING in common with an LR3. A Series Rover is a really cool rig...
I had a similar unit, the 'boltpower' version (I suspect most of them are the same thing re-badged) from Amazon. Pretty amazing what that thing would do - I could go out and start half a dozen vehicles with it depending on just how dead their batteries were. (I have a fleet of parts/project...
I'll refrain from commenting on the Toyota as I don't have one or know anybody who does. I will say you should expect a VERY biased response on this side of the forum as from what I can tell most of the Yota folks think all Rovers are going to collapse into a pile of parts just sitting in the...
I'd like to believe it's down to unknown previous damage but the sheer number of people who've had issues makes me doubtful. I've seen this issue with both front and rear bumpers. In fact before I bought my front (and built my rear) I thought I'd like to go aluminum to save weight. I...
I have to agree with what's already been said. It's a hobby...you work to support your hobby. There are people who turn their hobby into something more and are able to sell sponsorship but at that point it's no longer a hobby is it? And producing anything that would be of value to a...
Winch issue sounds like poor connections of the battery cables either at the solenoid, winch motor, or battery itself. At least that would be my first place to look. If you get the 'click' you know the low power side is working because the solenoid is what makes that click as it engages.
Yes, you could hike it. Technically it's a county road so walking would be fine. It would be a little unusual, but no reason you couldn't.
Heck, you'd probably make better time than most of the rigs. :)
Cool! One of the women (Erin) from our club was looking at running this in her LR4 but couldn't quite get the enthusiasm up to make it all happen. Maybe next year!
I also did poly sway bar bushing at the same time I did the control arms. I don't remember any of them being particularly difficult. It's been a couple years but it seems like I had to drop the front diff mount a little for access? Just three bolts (or on mine 2 as one has gone awol). I did...
If you've already done the Rubicon and Fordyce, next you need to run the Dusy and you'll have the Big Three of Sierra trails wrapped up! It's not as technical as the others but far longer and higher.
First, I assume your inverter does pass-through as there's really no reasonable way to run a heater off of an inverter. Just do the math- typical heater is 1500w. That's 12.5A @ 120VAC, so 125A @ 12VDC. Let's assume your inverter is about 80% efficient and now we're talking almost 160 amps of...
Nice input on the scangauge. I never really looked into them on the 3, but as you noted constant monitoring of actual engine temp and voltage is a nice thing. Now to google where to buy...
Quite often what I see described as 'rock crawling' or 'hard core' on this forum is anything but. However in this case Fordyce is no-joke serious. After I ran my LR3 down the Rubicon people started asking if I was going to try this trail in it. That's not even funny....
I've played this game.
Initially I replaced all bushings with poly. The change did slightly firm up the on-road handling of the truck, though it's not like it'll ever be king of the twisties so don't expect much of an improvement. There's only so much bushings can do to help a tall, heavy...
Sierra Trek is probably the best way to run Fordyce for the first time. A few Rover buddies and I gave it a try last year on our own despite knowing better. (one D1 and 2 D2s, 33s and 35s, one only had a torque biasing diff in the rear, one had a rear locker, one had f/r lockers). Suffice to...
