Did you miss the part where I said "aftermarket spring" which is what they are using? You can get "Bronco" springs for a snow plow package that will rattle your teeth out. Without knowing the rates and free lengths, you don't know the whole story.
KLX300 was the most reliable bike I ever had. I put that thing through hell and it kept on ticking. Gear them up and they will do highway sections pretty well. They do need suspension help though. Mine had different forks, different shock and linkage.
On the older forged beams that was the method for aligning them. Newer cast beams no. As for your spring rate argument, you would need the actual rates and free lengths of the springs to make a call on that. Just going off the GVW of a vehicle will not tell you much about an aftermarket spring...
Not all the power would be transmitted to the crank. You would have a fair amount of loss in the PS pump and water pump. I don't think 1 of them would be an issue. 2 on the other had might start to push the limits.
On some of the race trucks we would run a second alt off the trans output shaft...
Highway is 17. Towing my giant goosneck toy hauler at 15K it gets 12-13. Worst ever was going through Colorado towing 20K at 10MPG. But with 35 MT's and a 6" lift it's not that bad. My 97 at stock height and tires was the same towing but would actually get 20 if you were nice to it on the...
Was that hand calculated or going off the gauge? My 2000 Stupid duty gauge has said 20MPG since I bought it. Stop and go city traffic? 20MPG, Towing 20K? 20MPG LOL.....
Most Baja unlimited off road race trucks are 125". Pre-runners are usually under 135" to keep them manageable. I can hustle a crew cab pre-runner down a trail in Baja at a frightening pace.
Go for the extra WB.
Those are what I buy also. The tips don't last long if you are doing a lot of piercing, but for the price it doesn't matter. Having dry air makes a huge difference in tip life, most people at home don't have good enough line dryers.
Shocks, Any of the major brands can be rebuilt. They are all about the same level of difficulty. Personal preference would be Fox's, I like a few of the details on them and the 17-4 shafts. I have rebuilt just about every brand of shock there is out there. If you need seals and such for...
OK, couple of things and I'm not smart enough to multi quote.....
35X10.5 tires, Which ones?
Did you call King direct? Lot's of times order times can be really scaled down by going with one of their vendors like Accutune. Also, ADS makes some very nice shocks.
I have 1.6KW on the roof of my...
If you're going to the middle of nowhere you need to be resourceful. Broken axles are an easy fix, all it take is 2 battery's, some jumper cables and 6010 welding rod. I have fixed many broken parts to get out of remote places. Beats sitting around waiting for something to happen.
