I have a Brownchurch Defender roof rack for sale. It is about 1 year old as best I can determine. The same rack from Rovers North costs $969.

Here are pictures of the rack before I took it off...
I have owned two Land Cruisers and Six Defenders. They are very different beasts. I have traveled in deep desert with Land Cruisers and Defenders, and they are both great vehicles offroad. Modifying them for expeditionary travel is vastly different between the Land Cruisers and Defenders...
The Plastimo IRIS 100 is actually a handheld compass. You can use it inside the vehicle if you want to know a general direction, but if you really want to get an exact bearing, you remove it from the mount, and use it far enough from the vehicle that the car doesn't affect the compass reading...
We carried a minimum of 100 liters of water in plastic water bottles on deep desert trips. In Arabia, plastic water bottles in boxes made it easy to carry a large volume of water in our Defender. There are .5 liter and 1.5 liter plastic bottles in cardboard boxes that stack nicely in the...
Navigating by compass, sun bearings, and astronomical sites creates a situational awareness that cannot be duplicated with electronic navigation. A GPS creates a false sense of security. Just because you know your exact position on planet earth does not mean that you know what you are doing...
Thanks for the feedback. I enjoy writing articles because I experience a flashback to past adventures. Lately, my life seems short on adventures, and long on work. Writing stories on my websites takes the sting out just a bit.
I just made up a website a couple of nights ago to help me...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
In my pursuit of memorable photographs, I continually search for special light and great compositions. Usually reality gets in the way of awesome photos because I don't have the time to wait for the right light for a particular subject that I would like...
Thanks for the informations. I am surprised that it was sold through Amazon as I have always had good results with Amazon. Buyer beware even with Amazon. Amazon should be notified about this scam.
Thanks for the post. This is a very confusing area. I think there may be different rules for people who have press credentials, or so I have been told.
It's odd that you can video some interactions as long as you don't record the audio which would be a violation of wire tapping regulations...
You make a good point. Two of them are in storage, and one of them is registered and ready to go. The ones in Australia and New Zealand are kitted out and ready to go if I get them out of storage and put backin registration. Even storage isn't cheap if it is secure.
Sometimes I think I am...
After seeing the new concept Defender, I would say that my three Defenders just went up in value. I was wondering how I would have enough money to retire. I reckon that I will sell a Defender every five to ten years, and I will be rich beyond my wildest dreams.
I had never been on a boat when I was captivated with the idea of sailing around the world on a sailboat. I read the story of Robin Lee Graham sailing Dove on a circumnavigation starting out at age 16. Although I had never been sailing, I instantly knew that it was something I wanted to do. I...
I checked out your photos on your web site. Lots of impressive outdoor photographs. I need to study them to get ideas of how to make better compositions on my photos when driving and hiking in the wilderness. A little more creativity in my photos would be great.
I shot over 3000 photos while I was in Alaska, and I can understand why you enjoy that section of the world. We were lucky to have excellent weather, so there were lots of opportunities for photography.
Because of the rapid changes in weather, it's possible to have a scene radically change...
We used pelican cases in the outback of Australia, and on a sailing voyage around the world. Bull dust is a real problem in the outback, but it was no problem for the pelican cases. They protected the cameras from moisture when sailing offshore. We were using Canon XL1 and Canon XL2 video...
