Not much to report since I've been sheltering in place. Plus not much to do on the car. I've been meaning to re-finish my bumpers, sliders, and trim, but I've been too lazy to do it.
Finally acquired some spare rear control arm bolts to add some redundancy in the rear end.
A little piece of mind, on and off the road, goes a long way.
Updated my original post about it.
Redundant LCA Bolts
Which is why I paid the premium for the convenience.
I've had a pair of OEM axles and the boots sitting on my shelf for the past year. I'll get to it.
One day.?
Yeah, I put my diff drop in at the recommendation of "people." It made sense at the time since high angle boots really weren't a thing and it was a cheap way to reduce CV angles.
After actually measuring the above, I'm convinced that they really didn't really do anything. I'm a lot more...
REPAIR: CVJ HIGH Angle Remanufactured OEM Axles
Finally got around to installing my CVJ remanned axles with high angle boots.
When I purchased the car 7 years ago, it came with non-OEM CV axles with torn boots. As part of the initial maintenance, I replaced them with NAPA lifetime axles...
Sounds to me like you need adjustable shocks.
What's good on the street will be harsh on the trails.
What's good on the trails will be soft on the street.
Precisely the reason I have adjustability on all four corners on my DD.
Definitely not. When I modified my OEM rack, the 80/20 bars were untapped. 13 bars. That's 52 holes 1" deep by hand. I was scared to use a drill. That took awhile.
It all worked out in the end. Good thing I gave myself extra time. Yet here I am, at the 11th hour, rushing to get my setup in order. ?
Considering there was no consistency in the thread depths, it looks like tapping of the holes was a manual operation with little emphasis on quality...
I'm out of time to deal with TNuts. I'm T-4 days before hitting the road.
The bars were threaded per the order, but not deep enough to torque the bolts to the rails. I have to deepen the threads another 1/4-3/8" to fully seat the bolts.
Paint is definitely on the list. I don't mind the bare...
Updated original post.
Don't have decent shot of the solar panel because I'm short and I don't have a ladder. I still have to mount the other 8 bars anyway.
On top of losing my order and taking 4 weeks to send me my crossbars with no restitution, TNuts sent only 3 of 11 bars with the right...
Thanks!
It worked out great. The lower "C" channel aligns with the rail slots perfectly for the right mounting height for a minimal profile. It is <1/4" higher than when it was mounted on my OEM rack.
This time, no more universal feet to deal with and it's much easier to manipulate.

MODIFICATION: OCD Roof Rack and Solar Panel
GOAL:
Peace of mind when ski bumming it camping during the winter months.
PURPOSE:
Now that my heater is fully functional, I decided a solar panel would probably be a good idea to help the battery along when I bum around during the winter months...
MODIFICATION: Portable 12V Diesel Heater (cont.)
Since the component installation is all but complete, it was time to address wiring. The kit came with an excess amount of wiring. To house it all in the box would be messy.
I broke apart the wiring loom on the heater side to trace the...
MODIFICATION: Portable 12V Diesel Heater (cont.)
Heater placed.
Tank placed.
On the pic below, you can see the bolts that support the "L" tray and the fuel tank.
Time for plumbing.
Clearances are tight below the heater. As a result, I had to trim off ~2" from the exhaust pipe to make it...
