Yeah, if you are going to put a topper on and plan on keeping it on I'd look into this. Took me about an hour to replace the gasket on my 1500 that would cause leaks during big rains. A lot easier to do this before the cap is on.
Day 7
Alright, now down to the last day of the trip. As I mentioned at the beginning of everything the rough plan for the trip was 8 Days and 7 Nights, staying one night in the Green Mountains on the way home mostly for logistics. By the end of the trip the girlfriend was getting a little antsy...
Must be a cool place! That was a pretty cool area to drive through and see all houses and whatnot along the lake.
Yeah, we stopped and read all the info at the bridge when we were there. It is for sure a cool bridge now, but it would have also been kinda cool to see the original bridge that was...
Day 6
We woke up a Jigger Johnson ready to drive around the rest of the Kanc and do some more hiking. Not included on the route below, but I saw some suggestions to check out Crawford Notch Road, which wasn't on the original plan. When I hopped in the truck my DPF was at 68% and the regens want...
Yeah, for me it's not too much more outlay on the maintiance and worth it with the long intervals and better fuel economy.
I have not had a single issue with the SCR/DEF gear. I've filled the DEF up around every 10k at a truck stop, no biggie there. I do have an Edge Insight to keep an eye out...
Yeah I really have no complaints in the two and a half years I've owned it. If I had to complain about anything, maybe the maintenance. I DIY everything and it's super easy to change the oil, filter, and fuel filter. But the oil filter from the OEM is retail around $60, though you can find it...
Yeah we didn't end up having enough time to fit in Blue Mountain. The stop in NY was really more about not having to drive all the way through to the White Mountains. The Adirondacks are close enough for an extended weekend kind of trip and I definitely plan on making it back.
Love the...
Day 5 - Part 2
Alright, so as I mentioned for the second half of the day we were going to restock, grab some beer and then hit the Kanc. We were looking at spending a couple of days and nights here as it looked like there was a ton to do here.
Firs stop was the covered bridge over the Swift...
Day 5 - Part 1
Day 5 was a pretty packed day and I took a ton of photos, after looking through everything I think I'm going to split this up into 2 posts.
This was probably my most anticipated day. The tentative plan was to hit the Auto Road in the morning, stop in town for lunch and supplies...
Hey man sorry for the delay, took a while for me to get to pulling the platform out and getting some measurements.

Just a few notes on the above:
The ridge for the under seat storage is higher than the bump up on the back, the shaded squares...
Day 4
We woke up on Day 4 and were surprised to have breakfast brought to us by our AirBnB host, that was a pretty nice way to start the day. After eating we got everything packed up and got ready to head into the White Mountains. With the exception of Sunday we had been pushing pretty hard the...
Great looking build! Did you ever end up doing any suspension work in the rear or did it settle with the guard/winch?
Looks like your trip was a ton on fun. I'm a little jealous myself that you made it into the Maine area. I took a trip a few weeks back through the North East but had to cut...
Day 3
Alright, now we're on to Day 3. The plan was to involve a decent amount of driving in order to get us as close as possible to the White Mountains from camp in the morning at the end of Moose River Plains. We were also going to route through Fort Ticonderoga since the girlfriend really...
Not all of Leer caps have a window that pulls out since it's an option. I almost didn't order the window until the dealer mentioned you really can't clean between the cap and the truck then. But if it does have the fold out window there should be a couple of tabs on the inside to allow the...
We actually routed pretty much through Albany on the trip home, but I'll keep that in mind if I'm over that way again.
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with when we went. I wanted to be early enough that the campgrounds were still open, a lot of stuff was closing early October. I also really wanted to...
Day 2
So we woke up at camp in the Moose River Plains ready to do something other than sit in the car again all day. I did a fair amount of research on the area before hand to try and get a good idea of some trails to hit while we were there.
Pretty close to where we camped was the trail...
Good eye! It was actually pretty crazy how many foreigners (British, Australian, Hungarian, etc) we saw in the White Mountains that immediately recognized her. Usually I have to explain to people the breed and about them, but there were a lot of folks on point while we were out there.
Yeah I...
