    W463 roof load rating?

As far as I know all LWB G's (both W460, w461, w462(!) and w463) are rated for a roof load of 200kg. I myself have a w460, and the registration papers did not have any info about the roof load. But after contacting the Norwegian Mercedes importer they confirmed that it straight out of the...

Are you happy with the Outbound roof window? They seem to be well made and of good quality, I only ask since I am considering using Outbond windows and roof hatches on the camper buildt I'm about to start.

Some more pictures from the trip back to Norway: testing on the Danish beaches:-) The plan now is to do some minor repairs and get it registered on Norwegian license plates. After that i will strip the chassis from it's crane and supportframe, and I will do a complete repaint of both the...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Mercedes bought the Hanomag Henschel factory in the late 60's. For some time they had a parallel production of some trucks at both the Mercedes and Hanomag factory, both versions identical except from minor details like logo on the steering wheel and grill. My fathers truck is one of very few...

This was my thought also! Hopefully it will be ok, but I got a good prize, so even if I need to do an overhaul, I think it will be worth the prize.

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

So, time has finally come to our own build thread for the Unimog camper that propably will take shape over the next 2-3 years:) Thngs are still on an early stage and nothing is written in stone yet, so plans may (and most propably will) change along the way. But the basic idea is ready; we (I...

Thanks again Iain, I will check the gasket, it would be great if this was the reason for the oil consumption!

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Thank you Iain for the thoroughly answer, on my trip back from Germany earlier this week my newly acquired U1700L with OM352A and 168 Bhp had an average fuelconsumption at 19L/100km, the weight of the truck was then 8600kg including the crane and quite massive support-frame. Oil consumption was...

Hello Mike, Thank you for informative comments:-) I myself live in The southern part of Norway (Lyngdal). My father will be traveling together with me in his camper (1972 Hanomag Henchel F55 with OM314, better known as Mercedes 508), so you could say that we are quite used to long distance...

Help regarding purchasing of Unimog U1700L 1980 model

Great comparison Ian, I see how it could be quite useful to have the working gears in some situations.. But still, I think that for my intended use (remote distanse travel on rough or bad roads, not so much off-roading) it wont be needed for 98 % of the time. The last 2 % of the time i just have...

Status update: Decided to go for it and spend some extra time on getting it back into the condition it deserves to be in! I am picking it up in the middle of May and driving it back to Norway.
