Camping Fridges - Pros and Cons

I bought an Engel MT45 years ago. It has travelled with me in my Landcruiser and F350 from Canada to Mexico. The only times I use a cooler now is in my boat or on the patio to chill beer and pop. This is one of the two BEST pieces of camping equipment I have ever had/bought/seen/heard of...

    Columbus Carbon mounting

Robert The Columbus (and all AutoHome tents are best when installed on crossbars. The rack pictured should work well if you fit a pair of crossbars between the side rails - or on top of the rails. The mounting channels on the Columbus run parallel fore and aft and are 24.5" center to center...

Roof top tent - DIY - Scratch build

I suggested plastic sheathing because it is easy to clean and durable. It's an alternative to paint. Here is a threaded wood insert... They can be screwed in or pressed and epoxied in. They take a machine screw.

    NATO 20L gas cans SOLD

Sorry about that. I have a crap load of stuff for sale right now - cleaning out my garage - sometimes it's hard to keep track of everyone's needs/requests. Since this miscue was my fault, let me know how much you spent on gas, and I will re-imburse you. Best I can do to rectify the...

    Roof Tent Mounting Options

We have many customers who fit RTTs on standard fiberglass camper shells. I fitted a medium Columbus to the standard ARE shell on my F350 using a Yakima rail system and two cross bars - no re-inforcement required. Most camper shell manufacturers offer a heavy duty shell designed for carrying...

Engel vs ARB fridge pros and cons

The swing compressor in the Engel is more efficient than the Danfoss unit used in the ARB. Both work fine, however.

    Jon Boat Manufacturer?

I have used my Lowe jon boat for years with no problems. War Eagle also has a good reputation in jon boats. But if I was buying today, I would get a welded boat. My experience is that riveted boats used in gravelly areas start to leak at the transom. But it sounds like you are looking for a...

    Dometic RC 2000 propane issue

I think that you are either not getting gas, you are not letting the thermocouple warm up enough, or your thermocouple is defective. I think that you will also find that this unit does very poorly when asked to chill when running on 12V. 120V is not a problem.

    New Tripolina Chair update

No orders being taken yet. We expect to begin taking orders before OE. If we do, we will fill all orders ASAP and bring the balance to OE. Not sure how many we will have. This whole project is highly speculative on our part, but we liked the chair and wanted to build an improved version. So our...

Roof top tent - DIY - Scratch build

Are you using truck tarp material (PVC) for the fabric? If so you need to consider mitigating condensation by adding more ventilation. If you build the tent so that the ceiling bows have a full length fabric pocket this will also mitigate some condensation and dripping inside the tent. I...

    ExPo 80 Series Registry

I've owned my 1996 80 Series about 6 (maybe 7) years. It has a lot of mods and additional equipment. Bought at 110,000 miles, currently at 165,000. I drive it when I feel like it, but it is not a DD. Among the various mods I made it I most value the 44 gallon Long Ranger aux tank, allowing 69...
